22LR through a .223 rifle

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

22LR through a .223 rifle

Post by B-train »

Caveat- I am a .308 shooter. I have 3 308 ARs and know more about them then the .223/5.56 little brothers.

That being said, when the Obamination occured, I bought two 223/556stripped lowers with the idea that they would one day be built for my two-year old son.

well, I cant just sit around with un-built guns.

While I do not want to add another caliber to my supply line, I do want to build up one of these rifles.

And I want to put a 22LR bolt into it.
(as seen here, scroll down http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/?ca ... 485&cat=38& )

So it will be a standard .223 upper, shooting 22LR.
(edit 1/9 twist, 16 inch bbl)

Will the bullet be stable enough to put my Mite on the end of the barrel. I pretty much only want this set up if I can shoot it suppressed.
thanks for your thoughts

You'll be fine I should think, that's how most people run them, I have the ciener kit (basically same as cmmg), and use my mite on it. I have the 1:7 twist, but you should be good to go.

Don't forget to get a bunch of black dog machine mags

Also, check out spikes tactical kits

Also, make sure to get a small spacer, or use a washer, the threading on the AR is too long in some cases, so it needs a little spacer.

John titsworth sells one, and there is a part you can order from mcmaster
