It's Here!!!! THE 9mm micro-can. w/ NEW DISASSEMBLY VIDEO!
Moderators: mpallett, mr fixit, bakerjw, renegade
Damnit, there is video of my mite or Spectre compared to a zephyr, but unless Brooks took pics, I didn't. I am not very photogenic, and I have a high pitched girlie voice that isn't very flattering, so I hope the video doesn't show up. You need to get down there and shoot the poseidon Cyclone, it is worth the trip and the $550 bucks it is going to cost you when you shoot it. It is pretty much awesome.

You are aware that ATF still considers wipes silencer parts, right? A monitored forum is probably not the best place to say you're making a pile of them.strobro32 wrote:I just got my neoprene sheet in from McMaster-Carr. I have time booked on the laser cuter next week. I should be able to make 576 of each thickness in about 15 minutes.
Wipes are not regulated. I've seen many BATFE determination letters.
But just to be on the safe side, I'm making one set of wipes at a time.I want to know which size works best with the TM can. I'm going to try .875 then .900 then .950. I plan on testing accuracy and durability.
I've had a blast searching this site and see how opinions on wipes have varied over the years.

If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.
where do you get your facts from?Diomed wrote:You are aware that ATF still considers wipes silencer parts, right? Im going off the owner of this site, Mr. Silvers who claims they are not. This is good enough for me, unless you can come up with something else better.
If a wipe were considered a part than would their be a $200 tax stamp for each made or would it be considered something that we would have to send back in everytime we shot one out, which would be once a week> Just curious.

thank you kind sir,Walker Precision wrote:http://www.titleii.com/BardwellOLD/atf_letter66.txt
In regard to the two parts in your cited example, we consider a
baffle to be a silencer, but a wipe, which is usually nothing more
than a rubber or plastic disc with a hole in it, is generally not
considered to be a silencer. Thus an individual owner could
replace a wipe.
And the letters, as we all know, are worth the paper they're printed on. Right?strobro32 wrote:Wipes are not regulated. I've seen many BATFE determination letters.
This is best practice, combined with destroying the existing set first. But just to be on the safe side, I'm making one set of wipes at a time.

It's all good folks.
Nobody wants unexpected visits from the G men. It's always good to be on the safe side. I got ahead of myself and Diomed is just looking out for me. I have a lot of experimenting to do with Illustrator files, laser cutters, and wipe sizes.
I will make and destroy each set of wipes as they are tested just in case.

Re: It's Here!!!! THE 9mm micro-can. w/ NEW DISASSEMBLY VID
I want one so bad now.
PM inbound with ordering info.
I'll post a couple of questions here anyways tho:
1) are these being shipped already or just prototype stages?
2) about how many shots are each set of wipes good for?
3) is it much louder without the wipes?
4) credit, debit or money order (seing as how I"m deployed and want to start the paperwork on leave next month I would prefer to pay now and cant send a money order from this lovely sandy country )

This can exceeds the expectations Richard and I had for it as far as level of suppression, and our expectations were high!
The Video:
http://www.youtube.com/user/panaceabeac ... 3FXHb_scos
Specs:
Length: 4.18"
Diameter: 1.25"
Weight: 3.8oz
Material: 6061 T6
Finish: Type III Hardcoat Anodized, then Matte Black Powdercoated
for optimum durability
Design: Mono-Baffle w/Optional Wipes, Take-down tools
included
MSRP: $349
Last, but certainly not least, we listened to some of you other guys who mentioned to us that they would like a take-apart mini .22 can. So here it is, the Thompson Machine Wasp!
Like its big brother, the Wasp uses an optional wipe, and since minimization of weight was not such a big deal as it was with the Poseidon, we went ahead and did the tube in stainless. The level of suppression of the wasp when wet and wiped is shocking.

Angelbeast,
Thanks for your service, and happy Thanksgiving!!
As for your questions:
1. We have been finished with the prototyping stage for a couple weeks now. The first run is almost done and ready for shipping.
2. The front wipe (the one important for suppression) is good for about 15-25 rounds.
3. The Poseidon was designed from the ground up to be shot wet and wiped for optimum suppression, so you loose a significant amount of suppression when you shoot it un-wiped. It's still not too bad though
4. I'm sending you a PM about payment.
Thanks,
Brooks

I was one of the people who said they wanted a can like this. Time to put my money where my mouth is.

It's nice to have you back Brooks. Did you see the mega hi jack they did with your pooter thread? Be sure to tell them which new system you got.

Well I got a chance to shoot a pic at my SOT today. I was very impressed. I should get a chance to shoot it next week and compare it to my Trident on the Kahr.
The baffle/mono core is different from the disassemble video. I think it adds more volume and looks better. It looks like the rounded mount and recoil rod were made for each other.
Here it is compared to the Trident
Here is the other picture.

I made a video of the Poseidon. It really is a neat little special purpose can.
