Just picked up my 2 .22 cans

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Just picked up my 2 .22 cans

Post by chingon »

Bought from manufacturer 9/3/2009
My dealer received 9/24/2009
BATFE received my paper work 10/3/2009
Approved 11/9/2009
My dealer received 11/17/2009, called me today 11/24/2009 as he had been out of town.
I got a Thompson Machine 1x6 .22 can and 1.5 x 7 .22 can
Pics and review to follow
This was my 2nd and 3rd Form 4's on a Quicken Trust. As I did the 1st time 11/2007 I sent EVERYTHING to include the Schedule A with the "new" cans listed.

Congrats man. You will not be disappointed with your TM can. Did you get the Zephyr and Zephyr XL??? What host(s) are you going to use them on? I hope my TM cans get approved that quickly. :D

Although my cans are brand new, they are pre-Zephyr .22 cans
I got them both delivered for 259.00
The large one is called the XD 1.5 and the small one is called XP 1.0
They both have aluminum K baffles, the small one 7, the large one 6.
They are both able to be disassembled and the tube attracts a magnet. You can see the flash highlighted some rust on the smaller TM can.
Examiner stamp looks like Ben Thomas with Dawn Henson as supervisor
Pics with TAC 65
I could not believe when I was called today with Form4s back, the cans beat 2 hosts back from getting threaded!! I had already told myself not to expect the cans before Christmas.

The tubes are steel? I have a form 4 out on one now that I am going to permanantly attach to a GSG to make up 16 inches OAL barrel length and I was assuming the tube was aluminum. If theyre steel that would make things a lot easier.

I just emailed Brooks to see what the tubes were made of, I also was expecting an all aluminum can, but no biggie, no deal breaker.
I have a.22 bolt for my AR platforms (pistol, carbine and full length) Ruger 22/45 gettign threaded, Taurus Ciener .22 upper getting threaded, Remington 597 and 572 as hosts.

My transfer took a month to get to my Sot and two months to me.

This is from their new (much nicer) website.

"Tube Material……………….4130 Aircraft Steel"

The end cap, mono tube and or baffles are aluminum.

I am ridiculously happy with my upgraded mono core .22 TM can. I am buying at least three more of their products and probably more! They have soooo much cool stuff coming down the pipe. I'm going to need a second job.

Is it bad to own more silencers than guns?

I'm gonna need more guns!

Nice, and congrats, again. You should PM Brooks and see if it is possible to upgrade it to the zephyr specs. The monocore baffle system is SUPER efficient and, from what I have heard, is much quieter than the k-baffle system. I have fired a TM Zephyr (using monocore), Tac65, YHM Mite, and an SWR Spectre (all using a P22 as the host), and I have to say the Zephyr (using the monocore) was most equally compareable to the SWR Spectre's level of sound suppression. I am eager to see how it meters on silencer research, because I have been told that one is on transfer to John.

strobro is right. TM is supposed to have a .223 can in the works, as well as various other caliber cans comming out all at very affordable prices compared to leading competitors. I, too, will be giving all of my future business to TM. So far, I have purchased their monocore Zephyr, and Operative integral 10/22 barrel. I have also gotten to demo their Poseidon (the micro 9mm can that looks like a pill), their Zephyr XL, and their Wasp (that submicro .22 can). Both were rediculously impressive for the size and cost.

Chingon,

PM replied to!

Did you email me too? I didnt get anything.

We will be happy to upgrade your 6" x 1" suppressor to Zephyr spec. It will take the suppressor from being kind of loud to awesome. We will get it turned around within two days of you sending it to us.

Congrats on your new, and speedily delivered, cans!

But am I the only one who thinks that 1.5" x 7" is a tad on the large side for a .22 can?

I think those cans are for the GSG-5s. I know TM was making a few for the GSG-5 users.

It is, for a pistol, I specifically got it for my AR platforms with .22 bolt and threaded rifles.

Mines 1 1/4"x 8 1/2" . Perfect for a GSG with the gemtech flush mount thread adapter to make the barrel 16" . Core comes out the front so I can weld on the can and still be able to pull the core out and clean it.

Brooks,

Just out of curiosity, how come you don't stamp "Zephyr" on the new ones? Mine just says "XD 1.00" on it.

the XD 1.00 were the first generation $99 promotion cans that used K baffles. The Zyphers are the mono cores.

I got one of the first gen $99 XD 1.00 too. My $35 upgrade to a mono core was well worth it. I recommend the upgrade. They had mine back in my SOTs hands in a week.

My dealer just got what was supposed to be a Zephyr last week. I even posted a pic of it and Brooks commented on it that it looked good. Are the Zephyrs marked differently, or do they use the same tubes?

Opps, my bad. I just looked at the announcement photos again. it looks like the tubes are marked XD 1.00 for the Zephyrs.

The first signature stamp is difficult to make out but it "looks" Ben Thomas, could be Ben James, either way he is "new" as I did not see a name on any of the examiner lists that resemble Ben anything.
I'm off to the range now. I still can't believe my Form 4s beat my threading jobs. I have a Ruger 22/45 at Hooper Ordnance and a .22 Ciener conversion upper (Taurus PT92) at Hi-desert dog.

Just wanted to tell you guys XD 1.00 is the proper marking on the Zephyr tubes, so no worries. :D

The next run will have "Zephyr" engraved on them.

Happy Turkey Day!!!
