The world's most perfect 22 suppressor....pics

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

The world's most perfect 22 suppressor....pics

Post by 1928A1 »

This guy I know decided that he needed to take apart a sealed up can and with the help of one of the best in the business, the already great AAC Pilot just became the world's most perfect 22 suppressor.

The Pilot you can take apart and clean!

No, its not mine, but I wish it was. He says its just as quiet and it can be cleaned by manual dissassembly.

Its has to be the world's most perfect 22 suppressor :D

I guess the key is just to put it back with the baffles in correct alignment? Pretty awesome.

That looks very nice. I like the finish as well. I assume that a SOT made the spacer? Norrell?

Edited for spelling.

Yea that's a Scarab

It's a Scarab I got one. Mine has never fallen apart. Nice to know it can be non destructivly forced to fall apart if needed.

How much does AAC charge to rebuild a "filled up" Pilot? I bought the Pilot with the understanding that the lifetime warranty covered rebuilds for a nominal fee. If I do my part to maintain it, as long as it will fixed for a reaonable fee, who cares if it comes apart?

It really depends on how much you shoot. If you are going to shoot a lot of 22, it will fill up. I personally don't want to pay to ship it, wait for them to get time to rebuild it, pay the "fee", pay the return shipping all so I can repeat the process when I fill it up again. No thanks, I would rather open it up, clean it and be back in business in less than an hour.

How fast does a .22 can fill up? I'm expecting regular semi-auto use with maybe several hundred rounds a month. I would have liked to get a Prodigy, but I couldn't hold out any longer. If it looks like I'm sending in a can every year or couple of years, than it will be worth just upgrading to the Prodigy.

I know with SWR .........just the shipping.........

I would assume that AAC's stance is something close if not the same.

That is probably a good idea. Semi auto suppressors fill up too, but not as fast a full auto. Most people can get a lot of rounds out of a semi only can, but they become impossible to open after enough rounds. A lot of times, they stay pretty quiet, but they do finally get heavy, and then loud.

Probably because too many people will get it wrong and wonder why they can't hit paper at 3 feet. If I can't hit paper at 3 feet, I'm going to quit shooting and figure out what is wrong. At least with a suppressor I can take apart, I can count the number of bullets buried in a baffle.

Well, I visited a huge NFA collector who had over 200 machineguns. He invited me to shoot his Greasegun with can. I opened it up, and had to show him that he put the baffles in backwards. He had no idea. You are overestimating that anyone can/will put the can together correctly.
