General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

I read in the Form 1 section that "for all lawful purposes" might not work.
Anybody been having trouble with Form 4's? Thanks.
PS. I am in Texas.

Some states have specific requirements on what constitutes a valid reason. NC allows only "research and development" or some similar wording.
Ask others from TX what gets approved and what, if anything gets denied.
I used "all lawful purposes" on mine and had no problems. (SC)

I filled my very first one out after some major surgery.Had been on morphine drip for 2 weeks. Cant remember what they sent me home one but it was narcotic. I failed to answer all the questions & wrote fo legal purposes . And it got approved.

I've got three Form 1's in Texas approved with "personal leisure / target shooting". Dawn Henson was the inspector on all three.

This will get you delayed for a few weeks at least.
Yes, I am easily amused.

I was told by the staff at Clyde's Armory to write 'personal collection', and I did, though I doubt any non-smart ass reason would work.

I was advised "for investment and collection purposes", but I must admit "hearing protection" is the most practical one I've seen listed here. Truth be told, the most practical reason for me would be "reduce the chance of annoying the neighbors", but I don't think that's the safest answer.

how about "exercising my right"? I have filed out several for customers, and have used "for target shooting with out the need to wear hearing protection" and "all legal purposes". No problems yet.

My dealer types in "for all legal purposes" for me and I like that, as it covers the gamut, plus certifies more or less that it is not being acquired for any illegal purpose.
Highly recommended.

I always put "Investment/Recreation." Can you guess which half makes me chuckle? I don't think they go up in value

They will when some crazy Senator figures out a way to get 59 other Senators to vote to make them illegal...
