Beretta 92fs + silencer question

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Beretta 92fs + silencer question

Post by LFOD1776 »

Am I supposed to enable or disable my booster with this? I'm also going to be having a P38 barrel shortened and threaded for my Walther P38K -- same question. Thanks!

Leave the booster functioning.

You can try it without the booster. Without the booster, the slide will have an easy life.

I don't use the LID for my Multimount on my M9. No issues.

If it gets dirty enough to cause issues, I can add the LID.

My 92FS will not function with my Trident without the booster.

My Fixed barreled adapter turns it into a single shot.

The P38 is a fixed barrel design and a boostered suppressor should not be used on it.

Damage to your suppressor or barrel may/will occur when using a boostered suppressor on a fixed barrel.

Use a fixed barreled adapter or disable the booster on the P38.

My M9 needs the booster.
If I won't say it to your face, I promise I won't type it to you on this forum.
Why a silencer? So I don't wake up the kids when I shoot an intruder.

A Walther P38 is not a fixed barrel, unless my memory is failing me.....

.
Which fixed barrels and boostered silencers have been damaged?

Beretta copied the action on the P38 for the Beretta 92! :P

I stand corrected. The P38's barrel is not fixed and indeed Berretta's locking block was influenced by its design.

It appears that SWR has had suppressors damaged in this way

The LCD was designed specifically for handguns with Browning type actions. The LCD was designed only for use on
Browning type actions. Use of the LCD on fixed barreled firearms is prohibited and will damage the suppressor.

You have to tune the load and springs (main and recoil).

I run a lighter mainspring anyway, so that's no problem. And I have two upper halves for my 92 - one is stock with a 13# spring, and the other has tall sights fitted, a threaded barrel, and a 9# spring. The latter is obviously my suppressor setup, and the former is used whenever I want/need the Beretta unsuppressed. I reload too, so the loads aren't a problem. (The only factory that cycles my 92FS+T9 setup is Fiocchi 158gr subsonic, which has worked flawlessly.)

P.38 uses the same basic action type as the 92FS... or rather vice-versa.

I wouldn't bother disabling the booster for a 92 if I had a can with an integral Nielsen. With a modular can - like the T9 or Multimount - it's a nice option to have.

Today I tried a magazine with the LID/booster- recoil was much sharper and I got a lot of blowback. And the action noise was louder.

Went back to the fixed mount for less recoil, no blowback, silenced goodness.......

Since there seems to be no concensus, I guess I'll bring my assembly tool, spring and spacer to the range!
