Shorty .40 Suppresor!?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Shorty .40 Suppresor!?

Post by Pawkoo »

I am going to probably buy a Glock 23 and install an aftermarket threaded barrel. I really want a short suppressor for possible cc. One the size of a TM Poseidon or a nano in a .40 is what I would need but I can't find anything that small in a forty caliber. Is there one that size or can someone make it and if so how much? Thanks for your time

I don't know of a "shorty" in .40, but I do know there are relatively few .40 cans in general. If you don't yet have the host, and expect it to be suppressed most of the time, you might want to just consider a 9mm. Just sayin...

If you want, you can still get a G23 and get a 9mm conversion barrel, as well, that is threaded. 9mm suppresses much better than .40SW.

G23 Owner here...

LWD 40-9 conversion barrel

I did the conversion barrel but if I were to do it again, I'd get a dedicated 9mm host and be done with it.

45 cal is another option---Bigger projectile 230 gr=slower=subsonic and readily available.

You might look into the Thompson Machine QMF, in .45, but still small and lightweight. Never saw it in person, but heard good things.

The QMF is still quite large I need something the size of the Poesidon or NANO.

contact Brooks at Thompson Machine. I'll bet that they can open up a posidon for 40 cal.

The Abraxas was also manufactured a .40 Ti as well. You will have to call and see if still available. My local dealer had one a few years ago. Looked good and was light. I think overall length was about 6".

I think the reason you dont see what you are looking for is because even the "best" design, that small with a .40+ size hole is just going to sound like s--t and not be worth the trouble of a tax stamp. A pillow over the firearm will most definetly be much quieter then a small 40 can. It would be intresting to see how much of a reduction could be had.

Ask Brooks if the Poseidon .45 can be bored for a .40, or get the .45 Poseidon and live with it.
