Sig P226 threaded barrel reccomendation

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Sig P226 threaded barrel reccomendation

Post by dtu2179 »

I have decieded to purchase a SWR Trident for my Sig Sauer P226 in 9mm. Now I am trying to find a good threaded barrel for the setup. I'm guessing that the LCR device that helps the gun cycle requires a specific thread cut so I would have to find one with that threadding. Was planning to call SWR Monday to see if they had any that they reccomend. Anyone have any reccomendations?

Get the Sig factory threaded barrel for your 226. It'll come threaded LH 13.5x1 so order your Trident booster in that thread pitch. Top Gun is showing out of stock but email or call them to find out when more will be available. You can search around for other suppliers - but the factory barrel is your best bet.

Thanks for the link. That is exactly what I was looking for. I put myself on the email notification for when they are back in stock. A bit pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. Hopefully SWR make the LCR Device with that threading.

You could just send your factory bbl to Tornado Tech and have them put on a thread extension for 1/2 the price of buying a new bbl.

Sig supposedly has factory barrels threaded 1/2x28 but I heard you have to call them because the barrels aren't listed on the web site.

My P226S4 came with a 1/2x28 barrel.

I saw them when I was searching around, but I did not see the SIG 226 barrel listed as one that they threaded their extension onto. Is the barrel extension perminently attached or could it become unthreaded?

Will they sell direct to me, SIG that is, or would they have to ship to a dealer? I was thinking that the 1/2x28 would be better cause then I could use the same LCD on a Glock threaded barrel if I wanted to.

I'm thinking permanently attached, but I would call T.T. just to be sure. What I do know is, the bbl is threaded for the extension and a thread protector comes with.

Does anyone know any place that has these in stock? I am going to start the purchase of the Trident tomarrow. I think I would prefer to go with the factory SIG barrel at this time.

You could have Tornado Technologies extend/thread the barrel 1/2-28. Their work is very sharp. If you need turnaround, just call them and see what they can do, they might be doing a run.

As far as I know they will.

I like 1/2x28 over 13.5 because everything tightens in the same direction.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I wound up getting the SIG factory barrel from the dealer I am getting the Trident from. Was suprised when he said he had them in stock.

They have a range attached to the store and he let me fire one set up like I plan to do. Very nice :D
