Looking for an interesting Rimfire

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Looking for an interesting Rimfire

Post by goteron »

Ive got the Rimfire bug bad now, I need a new fix. I have looked at pump and lever action, but those are not doing it for me. Ive got a few pistols, a TM Clandestine, and a Savage Mkii. I need suggestions for an interesting rimfire gun that isnt too expensive. I would love to see a shotgun trainer with shells that hold a single 22LR that you can replace, so you can get some target practice and weapons manipulation practice.

Years back there was a fellow who made shotshell adopters that would fire rimfire and centerfire pistol cartridges, I think he passed away and someone else bought up the remaining inventory, I tried googling for it with no luck but you might find some floating around gun shows so keep your eyes open and even ask, nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

Hush, it was this fellow:

I wrote him twice in hopes of linking up and getting some adapters, but he never responded.

What about a linear shotgun? I always thought these looked fun, just never could justify the price of the stock.

Dig up a Calico M100 pistol or rifle. that should keep you in 22 heaven for a while. Call RDTS. I spoke to Ralph a few weeks ago. I think he has one with the wood stock and integral can... might be worth the call or e-mail to him... they are fun with 100 rounds

I machined out a 12 gauge shotgun round about 12 years ago that fires four .22lr rounds at ones.

It's kind of like the ones you see for the 40mm grenade launcher that fires 18 rounds at one, but on a much smaller scale.

I still have that thing around here somewhere.

I thought those 40mm rounds were cool and well 12 years ago I was in high school and didn't have a 40mm grenade launcher, but I did have a 12 gauge shot gun, so I machined out my own 12 gauge 4 shoot .22lr subcal adapter.

I remember thinking when I was in high school that it was the best secret turkey load ever. Sad to say I never did use it while hunting.

I would love to have some .22LR shotgun rounds that you can re-use. That would be an excellent training tool. James, care to share your design?

I always thought a Beretta 87 target would be cool. Just a thought.

James, if you do, would they be single, or 4 shot? If they weigh about the same as a 00 buck round, and easy to change the 22LR ammo, id be all over it.

I have a Hammerli Trailside pistol with blue essex grips that is fun to shoot and fits my hand like a glove. That would be way at the top of my 22 wanted list. Have several semi pistols and one of those 1 of 999 revolver pistols. I have a pump, lever, semi, falling block single shot, and bolt rifle 22's also. Great having some guns you can still afford to shoot. No matter which you choose you can't go wrong.
