H&K P7 worth silencing?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

H&K P7 worth silencing?

Post by psp7 »

I've read the HK P7 isnt a good platform for suppression due to the nature of the gas piston configuration which makes the report louder than the typical tilt barrel browning design. Is this true and does anyone have their P7 suppressed to verify this claim? I suspect there are no threaded barrels being made these days so the only option is an extended barrel adapter which I'm not too keen on if adhesives are used. Does anyone know of an adapter maker? I think Tornado Tech may, but I'm sure they use adhesives like on their 22 Beretta Bobcat set-up. Should I just forget about suppressing my P7 or is it worth it? Its the only firearm I own that isnt threaded  thanks for any help

We've had a couple of different suppressed P7 demo guns.

It looks AWESOME as a host for a suppressor - but you'd really do better to suppressor a Browning action gun.

Also, the threaded barrels are very hard to find and then you need to find a place to press the new barrel into the frame for you.

MM, I hear ya. I'd hate for some smith to mess up my 1980 mint vintage Arlington, VA PSP P7. I think if I take a stab at it I should find an Americanized P7M8 beater for cheap. These older German PSPs are too nice to be messed with and better for carry. Your piece with can looks sweet though. Still loud with the latest-greatest 9mm cans like the Osprey or Tirant?

I love the P7 for a suppressor.

P7K3 in .22 works the best but the 9mm work good also with the fixed barrel. It is expensive to get the barrel and have it pressed in but worth it once its in. HK P9S target is better but these are pretty cool.

ST, now you got wondering why folks say its loud? Is it because the delayed gas expansion due the piston?

I had a threaded barrel put on my P7M8 a couple of years ago. It was machined / cut down from a MP5 barrel, and as such has button rifling instead of polygonal. Can't recall who did it but they did a decent job and charged in the area of $220 installed. I think I found them on the Sturmgewehr forum. They were even nice enough to return my old barrel.

Suppressed, the weapon shoots very well, or at least accurately. My only experience so far was using my SWR Omega and a three-lug adaptor, and my only complaint is that I had some residue (unburnt powder?) spitting back at me every time I shot it.

I'd love to upload photos, however this site says "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image" when I try.

For me I would say yes it's worth suppressing.

In fact I own a P7 and I'm seriously thinking I'm going to need to thread that barrel here soon.

How much do you have to "squeeze" that lever? Would a normal grip would suffice?

son, 12-14lbs which is about the same pressure you hold your Glock or 1911 for shooting properly. Once the cocking lever is activated its only 2lbs to maintain the lever until you release it. Its easy enough to hold it in with your pinky. Very safe pistol. Very very accurate too thanks to the fixed barrel and delayed gas piston system. Bore axis is even lower than a Glock if you can imagine that.

I carry one - they're pretty much the perfect carry gun, in my opinion.

3rd that, sorry tupperware lovers  still, glocks cant be beat on a budget. So anyone know who will bridge the gap between my suppressor and HK P7? assuming an adapter will be the missing link :?:

I'd like mine more if it was titanium (i.e. lighter) & preferable 40S&W bc I am biased :)

glock35, I think its so special that the P7 is all steel, except for grips. I just dont like plastic. The weight of the P7 makes it such a sweet super accurate shooter  I admit though my Glock 26 feels better in my front pocket.
