SHOT Show Coverage Thread
Figured we would need to have a thread dedicated to SHOT coverage this year. For those of you that are out there, help those of us that aren't by posting up pics/reviews/thoughts on all the new stuff that you guys are seeing!

Re: SHOT Show Coverage Thread
Great idea Cliff!!!
I'll for sure get pics up (from my crappy camera phone) off all of AAC's sexy new shiznit ("user serviceable" Ti-Rants, the new Ti-Rant 9S & 45S, the Pilot-II "user serviceable", thread-on titanium Titan, 762-SDN, 300-SD, etc.)
As well as YHM's new titanium Phantom QDs (5.56 & 7.62)!
YHM Phantom 5.56 QD titanium is a 12.5Oz can and it has an MSRP of $999 (OUR DISCOUNT PRICE IS GOING TO BE $799!!!!)
YHM Phantom 7.62 QD titanium is a 15Oz can and it has an MSRP of $1100 (OUR DISCOUNT PRICE IS GOING TO BE $899!!!!)
I think a $899 dollar, 15Oz., "multi-caliber" 7.62 QD can is going to be pretty popular!

Roger that!este wrote:TiRant-S for "short"?
Think of the "short" Ti-Rant 45 that John Titsworth had for his sound testing when the Ti-Rant 45 first rolled out. Both the Ti-Rant 9S & 45S are intended to be short "wet" cans.

The 45S is basically a Ti-Rant 9 tube w/Ti-45 baffles.wi75 wrote:so like how short we talkin? user serviceble?
I'll try to get the length on the Ti-Rant 9S once I'm there.

To the best of my knowledge, no wipes - just wet (but I'll verify once I'm at SHOT).este wrote:Designed for wipes? Or just wet?

Re: SHOT Show Coverage Thread
I totally forgot to list AAC's new "mini" 5.56 can - the MINI4
It's a "compact" version of the M4-2000
There are so darn many new cans coming out at SHOT, that I'm starting to forget some of 'em.

Well, a Mini-AAC can is a no brainer looking at Ops and Surefire. If anything they are a little late to the party.
What about an AAC Flash Hider that mounts to a 51T mount? Anything?

Re: SHOT Show Coverage Thread
From what I've heard it's probably not going to happen any time soon, mainly because it's an ATF grey area. But I could be wrong. I know AAC is going to have some non-production/concept/prototype stuff at SHOT this year, so maybe it'll be in that category.este wrote:What about an AAC Flash Hider that mounts to a 51T mount? I'm excited about the new AAC stuff, hopefully once everyone gets back from vegas I'll have a chance to photograph some of the new stuff!

Re: SHOT Show Coverage Thread
I thought that 51T mount was considered to be a flash hider, with the three prongs. Is this concept something more substantial that would ratchet onto the 51T mount in lieu of the can? Something that would provide basically no sound suppression but would shield more of the flash? If so, I could see how that would be a grey area, as it would change the sound in some respects, possibly reducing it as perceived at some vantage points.Ctaylor wrote:From what I've heard it's probably not going to happen any time soon, mainly because it's an ATF grey area. Re: SHOT Show Coverage Thread
BINGO, according to what I've heard the ATF measures sound at the muzzle of the barrel, not the muzzle of whatever is stuck on the barrel. Kind of retarded but what can you do but politely ask them to consider changing their testing practices. The reason noveske can get away with the flaming pig is because they're not required to submit it for testing.CMOS wrote:If so, I could see how that would be a grey area, as it would change the sound in some respects, possibly reducing it as perceived at some vantage points.
Edit: Nice mongo! Do you know if the takedown tool is included?

Really? Interesting, not what I was told. Do you know if they specifically performed sound testing? Any insight you might have into the testing procedures would be valuable in clearing rumors and speculation.
