CAC 9 for 10/22

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

CAC 9 for 10/22

Post by hyrax222 » Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:54 pm

I was hoping my CAC9 woulld work on my 10/22 clone but no joy. The barrel is 16" long and I was using Mini mags.

Should I have expected some dissipation of noise?

The CAC9 works very well with .22LR. Your experience isn't going to be any better with any can, using supersonic ammo.

Get some subsonic ammo, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Who has the least expensive quality subsonic .22 ammo?

We've been using my CAC-9 on a Ruger SR-22. It's very quiet. I have Remington sub sonic.

try CCI standard vel. They make less noise than Rem Subs, at least out of a pistol.
They cost over a $1 less per box

Remington Subs are loud.

Sorry Mike, Jason, et al.

Try some of these. They're not everywhere, so
I pick up a few boxes at every gun show I attend.

The CCI Standard Velocity runs subsonic out of my Rem 597 w/ 16" barrel. The local Dick's Sporting Goods carries it for $25/brick.
