Hello everyone....
I have a Gemtech Blackside .45 and .40 for use with an XD 45 and a Glock 27 (Sub Compact .40)
Had no problems with the Glock .40 with and without the Blackside firing wet.
XD 45 chambered and ejected fine w/o the suppressor but when the suppressor was threaded on to the muzzle, I had intermittant rechambering issues. Ejected the brass without any difficulties..
Stock magazines
Both barrels from EFK Firedragon
I don't have boosters on either one.
What might I be missing here?
Thanks in advance..

Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
Subcompact Glocks are the hardest guns to get to run reliably with a can because of the high amount of barrel tilt.
Since the Blackside does have a booster, that's another strike against that combo.
You can probably get it to run better on the XD if you used hotter ammo.

This is what I am using in the XD 45:mk23 wrote:Subcompact Glocks are the hardest guns to get to run reliably with a can because of the high amount of barrel tilt.

Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
I have not shot that one specifically, but I would try some other 45 ACP too.
One more thing, did you break in the EFK barrels when you installed them?
When putting an aftermarket barrel, I usually shoot 300~500 rounds before I start running a suppressor on the gun. There seem to be small fitting issues that can work them selves out after some shooting.

Didn't think about that but it makes sense..mk23 wrote:I have not shot that one specifically, but I would try some other 45 ACP too.

Maybe 100 + rounds through it...
I will try that as well..
Which 45 ACP do you use?
Both of mine came with (what looks like lithium grease) already in the rear section of the suppressor. Is there a rule of thumb for addition of grease?
Is there an optimal lubricant? I.E. Enhanced sound reduction, less smoke?
Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
Usually American Eagle is plenty hot.
I do a lot of loading though, so I tailor my rounds to what I need.
Some time ago I had some issues with the USP45C with a threaded barrel and an unboostered Blackside.
WWB was too weak, but AE was good.
Then I started to develop a 45ACP load.
My starting loads were too weak for the gun and the can (gun alone was fine), but I tailored the charge and she runs 100% now.

Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
You said it doesn't have a booster on the can? That's your problem right there. Spring for the upgrade and you shouldn't have any more problems.
Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
If you don't get the booster then you should probably get a weaker recoil spring (or cut it down) and it should solve your cycling issues.
Re: Gemtech Blackside .45 chambering issues
My mistake... They both have boosters.. Talked with Joe over at Gemtech and he said that it is probably related to the new EFK barrels that haven't really been broken in yet..JohnnyC wrote:You said it doesn't have a booster on the can?
