How bad of an idea is this?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Can a quick attach mount be left in the can, and then moved between hosts by threading it on? As long as you made sure it did not loosen while being used, could it be done safely?

Why not just use a screw-on can then? What you suggest kind of negates the purpose of a QD can, and adds one more piece that can mess up.

I realize that, I just want to know if anyone has done it or is it possible, specifically with a 762 Sd aac can.

What he said....but yes, you can do it your way if you already have a QD can and want to use it as a screw on.

I would just be worried about removing the QD mount from the can when the time comes.

 ...Planning to shoot and run?? Just not sure which gun yet?!

Seriously though, my answer is stupid, bad and pointless, but it will work. Your question is "How bad of an idea is this?" not, "will it work"

Normally the mount for a QD can is secured with some kind of locking thread compound. It would not be easy to remove and screw onto another host quickly. Just buy a second mount.

Just too many rifles and I'd rather buy another can instead of five qa mounts.

Theoretically possible but bad idea. For example: If you look at the manual to something like the M4-2000, it strongly suggests removal of the can from the mount after every 200 rounds.

That sounds like a better idea if you want a screw on.
