Could You pick out a "name" for those Silencerco rifle cans?
Since the Silencerco rifle can project is under wraps tighter than a Skunkworks project and the wait is still at least a couple of months away, I thought that at least I could come up with a complimentary name or someone out there could help get this project named. Considering that the Sparrow and Osprey have a bird theme I have at least 3 names for the rifle cans.
The 1st is the Condor as it is the largest bird in the USA/California and it soars effortlessly really high. It's definitely thousands of feet above the numerous high flying turkey buzzards here in Texas.
Another bird that comes to mind is the Phoenix as it lives again as it rises from the ashes.
The next bird might be a bald Eagle just becuz it is what it is. The new Silencerco logo is already on the backs of our quarters- we see that Eagle daily.
Adding another "bird" Condor or Phoenix or an Eagle to my ss Sparrow and 45 Osprey(coming) collection has a nice ring to it hopefully. There are some really good names out there for this much awaited superb can selection addition/revelation. At least we MIGHT get a peek at the name(s) if Silencerco plays along and loosens up just a tiny bit to whet everyone appetites. Play it for major PR please? Maybe a freebie super secret surprise prize if someone comes up with a *K*N*O*C*KO*U*T name for "Name that Can" as a winner???? Just attempting to generate a bit of interest-any takers? starlingstalker

My two favorites:
Gyrfalcon "Jeerfalcon"- It's a bigon'. Real cool bird. Good for sage grouse.
Red-Tailed or Red-shouldered - Not as big but good hunters and very 'Merican
Runner-ups
Ferruginous Hawk - Not a good name... just a American big hawk.
Bald or Golden Eagle arn't catchy.. but they're big.
They could also use Buteo which is the genus for buzzard like the Red-tailed hawk.

Keep it simple...Eagle, Hawk, or Falcon.

I like Falcon.Kramer wrote:Keep it simple...Eagle, Hawk, or Falcon.
Sticking with the ornithological naming convention (yes, I spelled that correctly from memory) - Falcon sounds good. Blackbird = awesome. Perhaps a mythical winged creature such as the Phoenix would be appropriate.

Unrelated, but I'd like a short, fat, effective subgun can. We could call it the Kiwi.

I could see the name of the new suppressor being the Condor.

Well, all I can say is I hope Kenny reviews these videos. Since a Peregrine Falcon is "the" speed demon champion in the sky and can pull a fantastic 10 Gs a second before it hits the ground and the Goshawk can do acrobatics at 40 plus skimming the ground all day dodging brick wall trees, then there's my new names. With the flight characteristics of these magnificent birds, they DO personify the *Spirit* of Silencercos new birds Coming that assuredly WILL become top shelf can winners just as the Osprey and Sparrow already have. So, mostly no need to look any further for me. OK, Kenny - I need to reserve a Falcon and a Goshawk right now. starlingstalker

I am very excited.
Matter of fact, I've already got two on order. I left kenny a blank check and told him to send two over as soon as they get built and to just fill in whatever amount it takes.

Or the dodo bird? Or the penguin? Or the buzzard? starlingstalkerSelectedmarksman wrote:Unrelated, but I'd like a short, fat, effective subgun can. We could call it the Kiwi.

The dodo is extinct, so it's out. The Penguin would be a good choice for a 'wet' can or one designed with wipes. Buzzards can fly.starlingstalker wrote:Or the dodo bird? Or the penguin? I was going for a short, fat, but effective for its environment bird just like the suppressor would be short, fat, and effective in it's subgun environment.

I like clever and wily silencers, so I humbly proffer the name "The Turkey" for your consideration.

How about "Turducken" for a multi-caliber centerfire rifle can, then?Schulze wrote:I like clever and wily silencers, so I humbly proffer the name "The Turkey" for your consideration.

I would guess a phoenix is a no go as it is already being used by awc. I like hawk or falcon

Condor would only make the can sound HUGE.
I say call it the "CROW" so others will EAT Crow.
Done.

Good choice!!! With built in night vision and SILENT flight, the Owl is the literal after dark boogyman of the bird world. No wonder all the other birds pack it in heavy brush to sleep at night. And try to run him out of town during the day. OK, Kenny - add an Owl to my Christmas list. starlingstalkerdoubleajaybrock wrote:I still claim some form of an owl. Stealthy hunters of the night!

Re: Could You pick out a "name" for those Silencerco rifle c
I think the Barn Owl would be fitting, but I don't know how I feel about the name itself. Incorporating the word "barn" into the name of a suppressor makes me think of a farmer banging out baffles on an anvil and putting them into a schedule 40 steel pipe and hose clamping it to the end of his beater Winchester Model 70. No offense to any farmers out there.

May I suggest a name that is avian, in keeping with their naming
conventions, and an image that fits the big BILL:
Toucan.

But I too think that an Owl is perfect! Silent in flight. Great hunters. Own the night! Just have to pick a clever name.
PS The sparrow could be renamed the "chicken hawk"
