Gemtech raptor II in 9mm, anyone?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Gemtech raptor II in 9mm, anyone?

Post by RandyM »

Looking at a Gemtech raptor II in 9mm, with trilock, for an HK MP5 three lug barrel.
I was also looking at the Gemtech MK-9K.
Does anyone have any pro or cons?

Thanks.

Raptor....
Con..... louder than other options available like Trident or Octane.
Con.....sealed(but we can help you with that problem).
Con.....baffles are not anodized.

Not sure of any pros, have been inside GemTech cans and they have had rather poor quality control and fit along with other issues I won't get into at this time.

I would seriously consider the Octane or Trident from SWR. Will get a better performer, alot better customer service and the Octane is factory serviceable so you won't have to send your can to me for jailbreaking.

Also the octane HD has all stainless baffles. Huge plus there.

I love my mk9k on my mp5. It's way better than a raptor, and better than a pistol can for sure.

If you aren't a stamp collector and know you want a Multi use can, than Octane HD for sure. If you want a dedicated can, IMO, it doesn't get better than an mk9k.

I'd go with a Mystic or Infiniti with the Gemtech 3 lug..It works every bit as well as my dedicated 12'' x 2'' Mac can that was retrofit by Liberty and is just basically a giant Mystic/Infinti..And then you can use either of those cans on a heap of other toys and calibers.
If you see a telephone book and your first thought is a Silencer..Your addicted

Get the MK9K with the three lug mount you will be real happy eith that can. Plus it has stainless steel baffles and can be taken apart.

I have one with the Uzi mount for my Mini Uzi and it's great.
