What really exacerbates me is if one wants to obtain an FEL federal explosives license the ATF MUST respond within 90days of receiving the paperwork. There should be requirement like that for NFA items

Re: Petition to remove silencers from NFA.
I came in here to make sure this had been posted. Still nearly 4,000 signatures short? What is the deal?!
Also, seems to me, that people should be signing onto a class action lawsuit, instead of signing a stupid petition. Law was illegally passed. Should be turned over immediately.
Last, if just anyone can put up a petition, then who says that they'll consider changing the law if an arbitrary amount of signatures are met?

no, because it's a worthless endeavor in this manor

What's your idea, or anyone else idea on the correct way to go about it? I just purchased my first can this week and playing the waiting game now.GSRswapandslow wrote:no, because it's a worthless endeavor in this manor
Re: Petition to remove silencers from NFA.
First they came for the NFA items,
and I didn't speak out because I couldn't afford a machine gun.
Then they came for the High capacity magazines,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't own a Glock.
Then they came for the shotgun,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't shoot skeet.
Then they came for mine
and there were no guns left to protect me.
Anytime there is a chance gun laws can change for the better it is worth fighting for.

I'm thinking that if the tax stamp was made too easy to get then we may see legal purchased cans
used in more crimes and soon after a ban could be pushed on them.
A $5 stamp would be great! but I hope it dousnt come back against us later

While I would love to see this happen, it can not be "just removed" from NFA. That would make them illegal in many states as the state laws say "unless registered". I like the $5 AOW route.

I'm with you, suppressors have no reason to be deemed "firearms" aow makes sense, how does the paperwork pending time compare?mpallett wrote:While I would love to see this happen, it can not be "just removed" from NFA. It shouldn't be any different, it's just a form going thru the same process.ChimeraPrecision wrote:I'm with you, suppressors have no reason to be deemed "firearms" aow makes sense, how does the paperwork pending time compare?mpallett wrote:While I would love to see this happen, it can not be "just removed" from NFA. If they added a "fast track" fee they would make more money, and stimulate the economy! I know a lot more of my friends would buy stuff if the wait wasn't so long.

There would be plenty of time to get the state laws amended to take care of that. While I would love to see this happen, it can not be "just removed" from NFA. That would make them illegal in many states as the state laws say "unless registered".

The suppressor has been so demonized that the real culprit, the criminal misuse of firearms, redtazdog wrote:I'm thinking that if the tax stamp was made too easy to get then we may see legal purchased cans

gets a pass by liberals if the criminal belongs to a protected class (e.g., Attorney General Holder
cancelled the prosecution of Black Panther intimidation at polling places.)
On cable the Gangster Bio Series featured the mob assassin Joe "Mad Dog" Sullivan who used
suppressors on Mac11s.

Southie's Whitey Bulger had an arsenal of suppressed weapons, with the full knowledge of
FBI SA John "ZIp" Connolly. [Zip =" Same Southie Zip code as Whitey's ].
Demystifying suppressors and their usage to the public, including to well meaning but inane folks at firearms range, will
put things in perspective.
Then BATF agents can be better spent tracking and prosecuting illegal transfers of weapons.
Perhaps they can start with rogue BATF supervisors.
Expect the smarmy and icky shivers from the press, such as the NY Times whose owner and editor
have a conceal carry from NY CIty. Who would have thunk?
First step in 1960's SF Manual was to control communications and then roads.
This translates to petitioning the cable programs on guns to show suppressors in
the correct light and educate the mind numbed population that suppressors
are PC, save hearing which in turn will reduce impact on the Health Care System.

Re: Petition to remove silencers from NFA.
This is the dumbest thing I think I have ever seen posted on this site.
Obama's staff is going to get a good laugh out of this. They may even read it at Obama's next party or when he is having a bad day. This is like petitioning the devil to let you have some water in hell.
Anyone who signed this, do you know who the hell Obama is? He is a radical socialist rigid ideologue of Bill Ayers, Jerimiah Wright ANTI F****** FREEDOM. Obama want's to TAKE these freedoms away not GIVE more to you. You are barking up the wrong tree brother.
Here are some more examples for you how just don't get it:
1) asking a policeman to let you rob a bank and drive you home
2) asking a doctor to kill your mother in law
3) trying to get a pig to fly
Someone help me out with more examples...

did anyone notice throughout the month that the numbers would fluctuate? last week it was well about three thousand vote, this week its well below three thousand vote.
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Re: Petition to remove silencers from NFA.
Maybe the tact that might be best is to work to make silencers available with an NCIC& a $200 excise tax AT THE POINT OF SALE. then work on reducing the 200 to say $5 down the road.Abiqua wrote:This.Kramer wrote:The Gov't is broke and does not want to lose the $200 stamp on 10k+ cans, plus they won't lose $195 by moving them to AOW status.
I see instant checks as more appealing to the gov't, they'd still get their $200.
While in 1938 it might have taken 6 months to determine if you are a prohibited possessor, in 2011, with all the databases of criminals, there is no excuse for it.
