I bought a rifle with a 5/8" x 18 tpi threaded end. Is this a common size? I realize it could be turned (if there is enough length) and rethreaded but I was wondering if this is an oddball size or not.
If not, does anyone know where to buy an A2 style flash suppressor in this size?
Thanks

You sure that's not a 5/8x24 thread?

There is a version of a flash hider on the barrel now and although I have not removed it and actually looked at or measured the threads, the manufacturer (Thureon Defense) tells me that is the thread pitch.

I think that may be the same thread size as they use on the long barreled semi auto MAC 10 type guns. Years ago I had a 16" .45 and I remember it having a screwey sized thread like that. Maybe if you tried contacting one of the places that sells aftermarket stuff for MACs they may have something for you.
Re: Common thread sizes for .45 barrel?
Notes for what I have seen:
.578x28 LH (.45) (FNP)
16x1 LH (.45) (USP)
9/16x24 (.45 and .40)
5/8x24 (.45)
I would say most common is the .578x28

16x1 LH (.45) (USP)
9/16x24 (.45 and .40)
5/8x24 (.45)
