New .22 Host from Ruger, the SR 22.

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

New .22 Host from Ruger, the SR 22.

Post by MJF1911 »

Jeff Quinn did a nice review of this, and it will be offered with an extended threaded barrel in the near future.

So far it looks pretty darn good, and its all made in the USA unlike the Walther and Sig. I currently have a Tac Sol upper on my MKIII 22/45 with an AAC Pilot. When they come out with a threaded barrel I'll probably pick one up.

So who told you it was going to be offered in a threaded barrel? That would be sweet ive read a lot on this gun so far and this is the first mention of a factory threaded option ive heard.

Looks shy bit larger than the P22, made in USA, not bad.

I'm not crazy about the red or the style of the safety though.

Plastic, cast, and stamped, for "only" $400?

At that price, I'd sooner pick up a stainless MkIII and a few mags.

If the price eventually goes under $300, or if I see a used one in decent shape for $250 or less, sure. Not at $400, though.
RIP Dave. You will be missed.

$400 is the MSRP, street price should be $300-$320. I've seen them advertised at $309.

I like my MKIIIs, they do have a few drawbacks but accuracy is not one of them. My 5 1/2" Gov't Competition is a regular sub 1" @ 25 yards shooter. I wish my Tac Sol upper was as accurate as the factory setup.

The sights on this are plastic and I have a feeling this will be no better than a Walther or SIG.

The fact that the launch of this product doesn't already come with a threaded barrel is bullshit.

These companies continue to make the same fucking mistakes over and over again.

I've never seen a gunblast article that doesn't make every gun the next best thing and the solution to all of life's problems. I'd like to see another review, preferably several.

The Mosqito and P22 is a POS. The Ruger already looks better built/reliable

I no care about plastic sights on plinker LW 22's but should have had threaded barrel.

The Ruger is cheaper (Can get them for $310) and they have two mags.

Why SR22....when they already have a SR22 rifle. Like S&W, can't they think of another name?

To bad its sooo fugly. Not a bad group with the Federal ammo though.
I just got a 87 cheetah for my wife and it`s the tits now. I would rather spend the extra $ and get something worth keeping. It would be nice if HK would do a rimfire along the lines of the USP.

Be interesting to see if its any better than the m&p22 . . . I actually thought the airsoft company that makes those did a better job with it than the p22

I emailed Ruger about the SR 22 and a threaded barrel and here is their response:

Comment / question:

Are there any plans to offer the new SR-22 pistol with a threaded barrel option? If so do you have a time frame? It looks like a perfect gun for one of my suppressors if only the barrel was threaded.

Thanks, Daniel

Response:

Yes, The new SR22 model will have a threaded barrel, but none of these barrels are currently available at this time. Please monitor our web site for information on when these barrels will be released and become available. If you should need further assistance please call our Service Department at 928/778-6555 between 8:00 - 4:00, MST Monday thru Friday, at a time convenient for you. A Ruger Representative will be happy to help you.

I'll stick with my 22/45 mk-iii with threaded barrel for $350. That pistol is an outstanding value.

And does that gunblast site ever not just totally jizz on everything they review?

most recent gunshow had one of these on the table. looks like a total clone to me, except the good parts (of the p22). priced at 250 i think. he had a sw mp 22 for 350 i think. as we have heard, and saw, the barrel is a 1 piece design...so no easy sleezy barrel thread adapters...

no thanks. their are 25 rd glock 22 conversion mags avail now...i would like to help us and ruger out with the million gun thing, but it wont be with this gun, prob the threaded 2245
its quiet time!
