This guy sells silencers and is bashing them...

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

That has to be a staged video. I just can not believe some in the gun business would do an interview like that.

Yep, god knows there's no way I can kill an animal illegally without anyone knowing if I don't have a suppressor.

People seem to forget that someone who wants to be a criminal will be a criminal reguardless of what laws are in place. The dipshits who are hunting out of season in the first place are all ready breaking the law. I doubt very seriously that the people who go by the rules to own a suppressor are going to jepordize their NFA items over a deer or turkey or whatever they happen to be hunting just my opinion.

I agree with everything he said.

There should be a law requiring "loudeners" attached to archery bows. That way dishonest bow-hunters will become honest.

There should be a law requiring "loudeners" attached to cutlery. That way if someone goes into someone's house and kills them with a knife, someone could hear it.

There should be a law requiring all ARs to be painted the same color of orange as the tip on a toy gun. That way if a gunman is standing in the shadow of your house armed with an AR, you'll be able to see him.

There should be a law requiring that all guns rated at less than 3,000 Joules at the muzzle be fitted with a muzzle-brake just to ensure that they are made louder; preferably to the level of a .308.

There should be a law banning any magazine capable of holding more than one cartridge. Since there are already laws in place that mandate a minimum caliber size for game animals, it becomes unnecessary to have access to more than one cartridge. A magazine that holds two shows the intent to shoot multiple animals.

There should be a law forcing your computer to have two monitors, one for you, and one posted outside of your home so that police can monitor your online behavior. As it is now, someone could hack government websites, download kiddy-porn, or steal the next Batman movie before it comes out.... and no one would ever know.

There should be a law whereby all vehicles have their speeds capped at 70 mph, and fitted with a GPS device which would limit their speed on whichever street they are driving, possibly running over a dozen babies; because when a cop isn't present.... no one would ever know.

There should be a law over free speech, because left to their own devices, it is possible for someone to make a terrorist threat.

There should be a law that the man behind the counter should have all of his guns locked in a safe at all times, since any criminal can currently come in from the outside and rob him at gunpoint in his own store, thus putting dozens of assault rifles on the streets.

There should be a law against that clerk accepting cash payment, because it is possible that he won't claim it honestly, avoid full taxation.... and no one would ever know.

I just don't understand the idea that people think silencers are for poachers.

In my state, as well as a few others I know of, if you are caught poaching you lose your gear. There are some further penalties available but the long and the short of it is usually that you lose your gear and your hunting license. Maybe lose the license for the year, maybe more, maybe forever. You generally aren't looking at jail time for hunting violations. Commitiing any crime with a gun brings you into a whole different sentencing situation in CT or RI and in many other places I'm sure. Breaking the law while in posession of an NFA item, well that's just bringing you into a whole different level of legal problems. Like jail time sort of legal problems.

That's why the most widely used poaching tools are archery equipment. I'd say that if you want to clamp down on poaching weapons, you would start with the cheapo Dick's or Walmart package deal compound bows. For $200 or $300 you can get a complete poacher's rig with no paper work or background check. Guys buy one and if they get spooked in the woods they can ditch it and no worries. Come back to get it later, if it's gone it's not like there is any way to track it back to them.

The whole arguement just smacks of some asshat who knows everything (just ask him, he'll tell you) spouting off some stupid reason why "That's no good." He doesn't know what he's talking about. If he'd asked any conservation officers what sort of hardware they are seeing when they catch poachers or find evidence of poaching he'd know that poachers use arrows.

Same thing I said  Maybe it was the video, but either way, his statement about poaching and killing someone is crazy. He should have stated that people have the misconception that no one would hear or know about it. Anyone that's ever heard a gunshot would still know what the sound is...especially if they use those cans he had in the video :P

When someone hears a real silenced firearm for the first time they often comment that it's louder than they thought it would be. How this guy has real ones in hand (not even the quietest aviailable) and still comes away with a conclusion you might get from watching TV is unimaginable.

Oh, wait. Delta9mda has solved the mystery. The guy is a douche. That does explain a lot.

Wonder if he'll still be a licensed dealer for those cans after the video, he may have pissed a few companies off.

Before we skewer this guy lets make sure that we are going after the right person. The video looks like a well crafted editing job from a reporter with an agenda. There is someone on arf.com that is going to talk to him today and find out if the video was really representative of what he believes or if he got misrepresented.

@ 1:15, you can see the dumbass firing a .223 with a can and no ear protection. Indoors. Multiple times. He probably thinks they are silent now because he's damaged his hearing.

If I were a manufacturer or a distributor of any product, I'd stop selling to him ASAP. I'd cite the video and the lies that he spews (not to mention the unsafe practices that he showed in support of those lies).

Documented Lies from the video:
0:57 "The fact that you'd be able to kill an animal illegally and no one could hear you."
1:24 "You could fire this gun and no one could hear it."
1:30 "So, you know, if someone had ill intentions, they could sneak into someone's house and shoot 'em and leave and nobody heard a thing."
continued.. "so, that's the only benefit you get from these things."
1:48 "...you're not getting any benefits (from a silencer) ...mumbling... if it was a rifle suppressor, you wouldn't get any ballistics improvements...."
continued "the only benefit you're getting is the fact that it suppresses the sound."

Yes.. Editing was likely used to make it seem worse, but watch the video and try to imagine a scenario where he has the facts and was simply screwed in editing. For crying out loud, he says the following line: "So, you know, if someone had ill intentions, they could sneak into someone's house and shoot 'em and leave and nobody heard a thing." Please tell me how that could have been taken out of context.

What if all of those sentences are followed by "This is what hollywood portrays but is really not reality?"

I am not saying this guy could be a loon, I'm just saying let's get all the facts before we pass judgement.

There are no benefits to a suppressor other than some BS claim that they allow someone to hunt illegally? Really?

I trust you guys are posting comments to the video?

the concept of an outlaw (poacher) going through all the red tape to get a registered suppressor is just plain ridiculous...

just hang out at home depot and arrest any "bubba" that buys a hand full of washers and pvc pipe !

on another note , unless you have a humve with gun shot locator , 1 un-suppressed shot is not enough signature for a game warden to pin point the location of a shooter anyways .

You can definitely tell that this video was edited for only the authors benefit. To bad only one other person on this board caught the editing while everyone else is completely flaming the guy and posting his email.

Look at the unedited/uninterrupted section of the video between 1:27 & 2:00 I challenge you to set a hypothetical context where what he's saying is either 1> fallacious or 2> not total bullshit.
