ATF continued.......

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

K1196A wrote:Just food for thought -- when I send in my forms I always at least use delivery confirmation (even if it means sending my dealer a postage paid envelope with delivery confirmation already on it). That way, you know when/IF the Forms actually hit the ATF and you don't have to hinge everything on the check cashing. That avoids situations like yours because you have something firm to point at if there is an unexpected long delay before your check gets cashed and you have to do some follow up.
Great idea... I'll definitely do that in the future.
I just had a form 4 in a similar situation. It was mailed in on 2/13 and the check just cleared last Friday (4/24).
OMG I hope mine doesn't take that long :(

NFA Item: SBR*
Form Type: Form 1
Transferee Type: Trust
Forms Sent: Jan 20th
Check Cashed: Feb 3rd
Pending Date: April 3, 2009
Approved Date: April 21st
Forms Received: April 27th
Examiner Name: Darren Henson? (Both stamps are basically illegible)

*Also as a note, i had 4H filled out, which I heard was getting bounced back.

ADDED 4/27/09

Called ATF to check on status of a can that went pending same day, and damn are they getting a little testy. Huge "sigh", serial number, what's the name of the transferee, drag drag drag...sigh...should have told me it was a trust...sigh....pending april 2nd. If they would just put this stuff online so we could create an account, and check on the status, they would have a much easier life, and avoid our compulsive checking.

I had heard on a few forums, that if you have abbreviations in 4h. "Additional Description", that since you can't (apparently) use abbreviations anymore, that some had been bounced for having abbreviations in there. Doesn't matter to me anymore though!

Just slightly over one year from slapping my money on the counter!

This is my seventh NFA toy. This is my third NFA transfer that took over a year. This is the first and last time I will buy from someone outside of my state.
Stamp Received:?

Oops. Spoke too soon. Stamp is still out. The mail must be slow in these parts.
I called today. Ted (my C2's examiner) said that this situation is bad and it was good I called. He'll be sending a "certified" copy directly to me. It'll go out tomorrow's mail. Maybe it will only take 13 months for the transfer. The deal was cursed from the get go.

That 30 days after approval the stamp has not made it to the dealer.

FORM4 Refused - Return to Sender (Chicago vs. Atlanta )

Post by shadowmaker »

Sent 4/10/2009 via priority {for confirmation reasons}
Envelope was returned back to me 5/2/2009
Resending...

Stamp shows it was 'Refused 1st by BANKONE'.

I used the P.O. Box 73201 Chicago IL 60673-7201 instead of the P.O. Box 530298 Atlanta GA 30353-0298. I sure wish my local dealer & LEO would have caught the old address/form. Hope this helps other forum members in searching for their FORM 4 problems.

AUGH!!!

I made the same mistake on my first transfer...what really sucks is I sent it to the Chicago address twice before I figured out what was up!

My dealer tried to get me to use the VA address he uses on form3 transfers.

I just called the NFA branch and asked them. All was good.
