Check out this GemFail.....

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Check out this GemFail.....

Post by markm »

My buddy was shooting his GemTurd 9mm can at the indoor range, and he sent me this pic. He thought he'd had a massive baffle strike. When he brought it by, I could see the F@#King TUBE had separated.

The baffles were all fine except for the ding in them from flying down range!

(note the endcap still has tube on it. The thing separated right at the endcap.)

Have him give Kel a call. I would be surprised if they don't make this up and pay the stamp as well. We would if ours catastrophically failed like this one did.

This is precisely why we don't thread our tubes...

That sucks! Sounds like the tube was just a smig to thin after threading.
But hey Gemtech is not the only maker who has had a major failure.
I'm sure they will make your friend whole.

Yeah... I'm sure they'll make good. So the threading is likely the issue. Interesting.

99% sure I know where he was shooting, looks a lot like a place I used to own.
that sucks about the can. Hopefully Gemtech will make it right. Keep us posted.

That is not the stock endcap for a Multimount.

What model is it? Or has it been madified?

My MM is bored a little off center so the tube is thinner on one side... Hope this does not happen to me......
This is not the stock end-cap, either....

This is the stock end-cap. It is slightly convex.

The baffles are different, too.

Is that an old Tundra or something?

So, you posted this after contacting Gemtech and they failed to give a satisfactory resolution right?

So gemtech thus far has not answered the phone. Has not acknowledged receipt of the can, and has not returned two messages.

I know their products are junk, but I'd heard at least they'd stand by the s--t.

Wtf is the hostility for man? You should have tried harder and just stayed away.

Hopefully GT will make this right, maybe they are very busy or out of the shop at a show or military engagement

I'll update if anything changes. The sad part is that Gemtec can't just replace the tube with the same serial number due to their own crying to ATF about the practice.

GemTech has outstanding customer service, not sure what this guys issue is. Definitely needs to grow up though.

I haven't experienced a single bit of good customer service with GemTech. Nieither have my customers which is probably why we are called about fixing GemTech problems before they bother calling them.
