Slip on muzzle threads

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Slip on muzzle threads

Post by GoJohnnyGo »

Some years ago at Clyde's Armory I saw a 77/22 that had a "slip on" muzzle brake adapter(1/2x28 threads) that wrapped around the front sight and used two (I think) nuts somehow to lock the thing in place. This item allowed them to screw on a suppressor without having the barrel threaded. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about? I know that my description is barely better than pathetic. I'm looking at picking one of these up if they are still available.

Yes, there are threaded muzzle adapters available on eBay from time to time.

Sometimes they work, many time NO!

Say Rugers, none are finished the same so you lucky if center to the bore.

Best to have the gun threaded right for few $ more

The only baffle strike I have seen firsthand was due to one of these very things on a 10/22. A brand new outback ii became twice the price with the first two rounds.
