What was your first NFA weapon

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

What was your first NFA weapon

Post by Jt.kline19 »

What was your first NFA purchase? Why did you buy? How many do you have now? How long have you been in the game?
Mine first was a Gemtech Oasis P, followed by an SWD M11/9(which is F'ing sick with the Lage .22 kit), Liberty mystic, and a silencerco sparrow.
I bought the gem tech oasis just cause I thought it would be a good suppressor, don't get me wrong its pretty quite. Its just not userservicable, and I wish i would have researched a little more.

Bulgarian krink, followed by another, then SWD M 11, and Bowers CAC 9. Next up, three suppressors, another SBR, and three more suppressors. Still not done. I'll have another round of buying after the Hush Shoot and testing in August. I also have a Yugoslav M 92 kit that needs built.

My first two purchases were on March 8, 2012 and were an AAC Element 2 and a Liberty Kodiak TL. Neither of them have arrived at the dealer yet so my form 4's on my first purchase hasn't even been sent in yet. :( I bought them because I found out they were legal to own and frickin cool! I've already started looking at more to buy and should be ordering them in the next day or two. So I guess, technically I'm not even IN the game yet since the Form 4's aren't sent out. Sure wish the dealer would let me know what's going on with this process and when we can send the Form 4's out. I'm guessing he should have the serial numbers already (two months since purchase) even if he doesn't have the cans.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you send out your form 4's as soon as you get the serial numbers you are going to be receiving??? If so then we're wasting time. Or maybe this dealer doesn't send out form 4's until he has the can in hand. I don't know......just wish I had more information.
I've gotta stop this habit.

When the Hughes Amendment was attached to GCA 1986, it was obvious that NFA prices would eventually get out of hand. So I decided to get what I wanted regardless of cost. I found a new in box Maramont M60 and bought it. Cost me $4000. Bought a mount and some accessories at the same time for another $500.

Then took me 13 months to get it transfered due to a quirk in WV law at the time. Took delivery in 1987.

Picked up another buzz gun not too long after that, and then had a long hiatus until I got interested in suppressors.

I am still waiting on my first. I have a Marlin 1895SBL (45/70) and ordered a AWC thundertrap for it. I got it mostly because I was completely new to silencers and found out that I could use one to hunt in Idaho. The rifle has taken 3 deer 1 elk and 1 Black bear so far. I doubt I will be able to use it this next hunting season... may be if I go for Wolves cause there season goes much later.

I bought 4 silencers and my first weapon was a SBR.

I'd like to own a M16 but my state won't allow select fire weapons. The 2 clubs I belong to forbid full auto weapons. So these reasons kill my desire for a machine gun.

Here is my SBR. Colt Commando upper (11.5") with Phantom can. This gun is a blast to shoot. Fairly accurate too.

Select Fire HK MP5K PDW converted with DLO pack... I'll probably end up having to sell it though. College takes priority.

YHM Cobra M2 9mm suppressor in 2010. Still have it, not my favorite and not the quietest but definitely fun and gave me the bug for more. Over the past year and a half I have accumulated 4 cans and 2 SBRs... with more on the way.

Stamps are like the Lays chips...you can't have just one.

I started with an Outback II thinking that would be it. I'm waiting on my 12th or 13th stamp to come back...should be here in June. :)

College was great and you should go. But don't sell weapons to foot the bill. Student loans are cheap and NFA items have too long of a wait to buy. You'll sell only to realize that you miss it and then buy it or another one back! Save yourself the heartache and keep the gun. Borrow some money at a low interest student loan.

You are my hero!

My first NFA was a Form 1 SBR AR-15. I did it because it was cheap and easy. And just because I could.
