Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
I have a SWR Spectre currently mounted on a Kel-Tec SU-22C and couldn't be happier with the combo. Because it's been so much fun to shoot, I'm planning to purchase a SWR Octane 9 HD for my Sig P226 combat edition with a factory threaded barrel with 13.5 X 1 LH threads.
I'm trying to find out what is included with the Octane 9 HD as far as a piston device and also the threads that it can be mounted on. If it only comes in 1/2 x 28, then does anyone know where I can buy a different mount for the Octane 9 HD in order to get it on my metric 13.5mm Sig?
Also, does anyone have an Octane 9 HD and would you recommend it compared to the AAC TiRant 9mm? I've been very happy with my SWR Spectre .22 suppressor, but have never shot a 9mm with a suppressor.

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
Order it with the Sig threads because getting any additional mounts will be up in the air. I am waiting on a 1/2X36 mount for 6 months.I am going to have Stalking Rhino do a jailbreak on my Trident and he is going to make what sounds to be a better mount anyway. I am sure he can help you with additional mounts if needed. But i love my Sig Elite with the SWR can. I shoot 147rn with 3.5g of N320 and its real quiet. I love SWR products but as they have gone with a distributor things have gotten a little out of whack in the getting parts dept.

I have a P_229 w 1/2x28 factory threads and run an SWR Octane 9HD on it. I acquired the 3 lug and the 5/8x24 fixed adapters.
Can works great on the P229!

Where'd you get the 3 lug and 5/8x24 adapter for your Octane? SWR used to have an online store on their website, but I can't find any of the parts on there anymore.eastern_hunter wrote:I have a P_229 w 1/2x28 factory threads and run an SWR Octane 9HD on it. Just ordered an Octane 9 HD today for my MP5 sbr clone, would make a great New Year's present if wait times stay the same. This is my first SWR can and I'm pumped.

Got the adapters from SWR ... call them.
The 3 lug really does require a wrench to remove. See viewtopic.php?f=87&t=87799

Doesn't the new CTA baffle version of the Octane9 HD use Silencerco Osprey pistons? If so they're easy to find. Just go to Silencerco's website and purchase them from their store.
Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
How about your Kel tec 22LR with a Octane 9 on it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1VshiFSqkg
Love mine too, think the KT may be a jamomatic when i buy used (cheap),,,,,, NOPE! Mine never jams! Shoots good too!!!!!
In the vid I use the SWR fixed adapter in 1/2x28 also works on fixed 9mms,
The Octane come with 1/2x28 piston and spring, to use their adapters for fixed barrels, you take out sping piston and cap and add adapter cap. . Almost flush maybe ads 1/8" to the can. Also heavy duty and steel!
For the sig you should be able to get a Silenserco piston for that threading. They use the same now. (can you say user friendly?)
What do I think of the Octane 9? It the easiest 9mm can to clean out there! The tube stays clean the baffles are ALL high grade SS and clean easy in a sonic cleaner and will last longer. No other can like it. Also lifetime warranty and GREAT service.
It "may" be 1 DB louder than a Tirant with some hosts and ammo but I rather have a strong easy clean can with no aluminum guts . (It sounds good)
I use it for 300BLK, 22LR and 9mm. Was shocked when shot it with 22! Sound like a good 22 can!
Tried some of my new reloads in it today and even cycles my G-34 with light sub loads.(No fail with any test load so far!)
Hope this helps.

I think Major Malfunction is the source for all SWR parts and can's. I had no luck going thru SWR and I had no luck going thru Major Malfunction but possibly what I was asking for is not currently made or dis continued. I think you will have good luck on the newer stuff being made.
Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
Major only sells to dealers now.M40A1308M wrote:I think Major Malfunction is the source for all SWR parts and can's. Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
I guess why I am slightly frustrated. The manufacture {SWR} used to be the people you could talk to about problems or orders. Then they shove it to a distributor and you had to call them on any issues with a order. NOW if you call Major Malfunction he will only talk to dealers not customer's and I find he only does that is very small doses. This is the way of corporations now and I am sick of it.You have wade thu automated messages just to be rerouted back to the same place. No body want to deal face to face anymore and it is very annoying. And if you do get to talk to a person they act is if you are pulling them away from something way more important than you. You call customer support at any company now and it's doubtful that you get any support what so ever. Back in the day I could call Mark white,SWR,Tactical Solutions,{AAC sometimes if they answered the phone} and talk to them about things, and you used to be able to do that with allot of manufactures NOT NOW! I know allot of the big manufactures don't think they need the private consumers, but the private consumers is what drives allot of the large buyers later. One by one if the small consumer drops off so will the masses. Just a opinion.

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
Golly ... I too was saddened that the Major felt he had to become a wholesale only shop, but I do understand his need to have a life in addition to his business.
An a wee bit surprised at the comment that the folks at the "new" SWR were brusk on the phone. Might be that I have low expectations, but the couple of times I've called to ask questions or order something they were patient with a newbie and very helpful.
Hope that doesn't change.

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
It's more after you get the product they are really nice if you want to buy something but as soon as they find out you are a customer with issues getting parts then it becomes a run a round.
I was talking in general terms not directing all of my concern to just suppressor company's it was just relative to this topic. It just seems as a hole the customer service is suffering in all business. I found my self making more decision on what to buy as it relates how a customer is treated. On firearm related note Barrett has one of the best customer services that I have ever seen. And that's why I keep going back. And Randy of Landtec answers the phone every time. And there are a dozen more that haven't forgot good customer service. And I am sure if the OP orders all the things he wants as a package with the suppressor he will get it. I had a really hard time getting anything after I bought the suppressor.

SWR ("new" Utah) Always answer E-mails or Call back. Steve is the one handles this and his numbers INCLUDING personal cell phone is posted for all to see. They also answer all questions here in the SWR section.M40A1308M wrote:I guess why I am slightly frustrated. The manufacture {SWR} used to be the people you could talk to about problems or orders. I sure they (and others) get tons of peoples who waste their time and need a buddy. But if you have legit question or E-mail they ALWAYS get back if they no answer from being swamped.
They upgraded my new Octane to the newer Octane FREE and FAST.
Do I waste their time on the phone "talking things"? NO! I know what it like to try and work and get hammered by people who need a buddy!

I have waited long enough 6+ months on parts I will have them custom made. I don't need a buddy My time is very pricey and I understand others needs to get to there work and not have there time wasted.

Are you needing special parts or stock parts?

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
Here was my order.
2x 1/2x36 caps for trident. {going on 1 year}
2x 3lug adapters. {5.5 months}
2x 1/2 28 pistons. {6.5 months}
But now I am going to have the suppressor rebuilt. The point of my statement was the OP should just order everything up front don't wait till later. I have ordered 2 SWR products with all that I will need and everything showed up fine. Again my statement was for a broad range of companies not just SWR. Things change fast in the firearm business sometimes new builds come out and older ones are forgotten. I my company we need to make parts for at least 7 years after the product is upgraded or changed to a new one. That's pretty much industry standard.

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
Octane fixed thread mounts have been a real challenge.. There was a backlog when we bought SwR and then we didnt help it by prioritizing the suporessor builds first. They are largely available at this point. We always try to refer customers to dealers to get product... This is a business where the dealer is absolutely critical... You can even get a can without your local SOT.
There are still largely no adapters available through us directly , partly because the SWR ecommerce site is not up yet, mostly because we are still filling dealer and wholesale backorders.
If you call us we will happily try to refer you to a dealer who would likely have these oroducts in stock.

I appreciate the answer ,but I have had orders on file WITH local dealers for a year now. Thanks, but I am going a different direction with the SWR can.

With the move and making new cans, I think you guys do fine. More web site would be nice and more vids.Gary_SilencerCo wrote:Octane fixed thread mounts have been a real challenge.. Would like to see a 45 can SOON , I very old and am clinging to life for this to happen.
FWIW, the mounts are very nice and solid built.

Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
I am interested in having an Octane 9HD ordered. What kinds of mounts will I need with it to make sure that I order them all at the same time as the can. I want to try and avoid needing a part later down the road and having to wait months for just a mount or two. I don't have any specific host for the can yet but figure I will likely use it on Glock, H&K, Beretta, Sigs etc. Basically, whatever I have floating around in our gigantic multi-gun safe I'll try to order threaded barrels for.
Any info would be great for this rookie that doesn't know what I need for shooting suppressed other than a can and a threaded barrel host. I know nothing about attachments, etc. and when they're needed. Still reading up on all that but ordering as many cans in various calibers as I can afford.

I've gotta stop this habit.
Re: Sig P226 with SWR Octane 9 HD
I keep it simple, all 9mm pistols I own have 1/2X28 threads so the Octane is good to go as is on all and shooter ready . On fixed barrels in 9mm and 22lr you need the 1/2x28 fixed adapter and you remove spring and piston and replace with fixed adapter. For most 9mm AR carbines you need a 1/2x36 fixed adapter
For 300 blackout AR (shoot subs only) you need 5/8x24 fixed adapter.
Adapters are $80,,, the old school "spacer" way to stop the piston from moving would cost you $40+ and in different threads you need a pistons . The adapter is the better way to go and take care of everything.
Hope I help.
