Right now I'm eyeballing:
- Sig Mosquito (cuz I love my P226)
- Smith M&P 22 (cuz I might buy a 9mm version)
- Buckmark (do they thread these?, ive seen a camper threaded)
- Glock 19 threaded bbl conversion (cuz I have a G19)
- Walther P22 (cuz I love my P99)

What's wrong with a chamber indicator?I always recommend Ruger MKII and 22/45 MKII they are strong And no chamber indicator.
Chamber indicators look stupid thats all, some say there is noise that leaks out that side but I haven't experienced that myself.wacki wrote:Need to pick up a .22 LR pistol. Any favorites in the NFA world? Any to stay away from?

I would go Ruger but they are apparently a pain to clean.

Is there something undesirable about the MK3? I have a ss 22sparrow and an mk2 bull barrel (perfect condition) that my dad gave me. I've been considering a tacsol upper for my mk2, but I really don't want to mar the bluing (the firearm has sentimental value). I was considering picking up a used mk3 or 22/45...is there a specific reason to strike the mk3 off my list?Bendersquint wrote:wacki wrote:Need to pick up a .22 LR pistol. Stick with either a Buckmark, Ruger MK2, 22/45 or a Beretta 87.
The rest aren't anything to write home about.

Pass on the Mosquito and P22.

I don't think Ruger offered any factory-threaded barrels, but it has been a few years and I bought that one used, so I don't clearly remember what the factory was doing.wacki wrote:Is that Buck Mark URX threaded?
Are all Buck Marks available w/ threaded bbls? Or is there a trusted company that threads buckmarks?
I don't see any threaded bbls on the browning website.
Once you have striped one down, they'll seem easy.wacki wrote:I would go Ruger but they are apparently a pain to clean.
You are wrong, the REASSEMBLY procedure is the test, anyone can tear it apart, not everyone can reassemble it. If you can't do it on the first or second try then you need to sell it!strobro32 wrote:The take down procedure of a MKII or III is a test to see if you're worth of owning it.
I stand corrected.Bendersquint wrote: You are wrong, the REASSEMBLY procedure is the test, anyone can tear it apart, not everyone can reassemble it. If you can't do it on the first or second try then you need to sell it!

But I couldn't justify the premium pricing that Mark II's bring now that they're out of production. The Mark III and the Browning Buck Mark are virtually identical, apart from the huge number of variations Browning offers (the stainless ones are niiiiice).
I replied to your PM, but my comment was strictly because of the durability of stainless.wacki wrote:With modern coatings / tennifer treatments is there really a need for stainless other than cosmetic?
