Question about the term SFM
Gentleman, I am new to the world of silencers with a lot of question's. I have learned much from reading the posts and have a question. What dose SFM mean?I feel it best to wait may be a wait may be a year or so before sending off for my Form 1. Is there a book that will help understand more about metals and how to work with them. Thanks wind chaser.

Re: Question about the term SFM
I don't know in what context you read "SFM' in, but I assume it had something to do with machining. the only reference I have seen
to SFM relates to how fast the workpiece or material is spinning in relation to the turning tools lateral movement in a lathe. in other words
it is how fast the material is being removed from your workpiece. SFM means surface feet per minute. the term is also used in milling
and refers to the speed the milling cutter is moving across the surface of the material you are cutting.
