Sheer beauty

Saturday morning I got to see my toy that I have longed for. It's not much to look at now, but potential is beautiful. It's nothing more than a 1.5" diameter piece of tubing but it's alot more to me. In a few months it'll be a suppressed .45acp upper receiver for my Cav Arms grease gun magazine fed .45 AR15! I picked it up and just imagined how great it will be. As I held it I could see the finished product, and pictured how it'll be when it's done. I dont know exactly why but this thing just excites the hell out of me. Hopefully ATF will quickly approve this paper along with the other 2 form 4s I have pending and I will finally know true happiness.

I thought BRD was bad..... I had no idea how bad NFA BRD would be.

Sweet,
I am not much of an AR fan, but anything in .45 acp interests me.
And Suppressed even, all right.

Haven't heard anything good about "Cav Arms" though, at least in .223, have you put one of these .45's together before?
If so, would love a 1st hand report.

Thanks, and looking forward to more info.

Actually I have two of their receivers, one is on a .223 and the other .45acp. I also own 2 cavalry arms upper receivers. Their uppers are excellent as are the lowers *if* you can live with a fixed stock.

I've had the .45 setup up and running last year and destroyed my first lower. The lower receiver had cracked in half due to the buffer violently bottoming out with the blowback Oly upper. Cavalry arms did replace the entire rifle at no cost and developed an 8.5oz buffer to use with the .45 conversion as well as a hahn one piece drop in mag block as opposed to my original home built pinned in 2 piece system. All of these were provided to me at no cost for letting them keep my upper for awhile for testing. I really cant complain, there was a problem and they made good on it.

The rifle is reasonably accurate for a pistol caliber carbine, recoil is probably a bit more than with .223 but the rifle is much quieter even without the suppressor. I truly enjoy hitting things with 230grs instead of just 55. The setup is completely reliable and greasegun mags can be found for as little as $10 each and hold 30 rounds. The only other option is Uzi .45 mags which only hold 16 and run about $75 each IF you can find any.

I'm not far from Portland if you ever want to put it through the ringer

I'll post a photo of the unsuppressed rifle in the photo section, this will be the "before" pic. We'll have to wait on ATF for the "after" pic.

:?: :?: :?:
Did I meet you last year out at the Rock Quarry?
There was a guy that had 3 or 4 of them and one LOWER did come apart on him.

Yes, I would love to check out the .45 some time. I am still waiting on RDTS to get me my SW45SD. I had it made into an AOW prior to knowing that the BAN was going away, not I am having a time with ATF because they don't want us to SBR and AOW?????
Anyway, it's a mute point now that I have my 07/02!

That would be me, it was my .45 that self destructed. Cav made good though and put a lot of work into finding a good buffer that woudl keep it from happening again. I guess they burned a bunch of .45 up to be sure it wouldnt happen again.

One other issue with Cav lowers is that in stock form beta C mags wont come off easily, you gotta pound the crap out of em. It takes a minute with a piece of sandpaper or a file to fix it.
