Custom Liberty 300Blk SBR Can

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Custom Liberty 300Blk SBR Can

Post by strobro32 »

I thought I would share some custom Liberty Suppressor Love.

Some of us wanted a smaller 300 BO can for the SBRs. Granted it's not as quiet as the Leonidas integrals but It did save a few inches and looks pretty cool. The difference in sound being between a .22 and 9mm can. It sounds very good and returned my faith that one of the AR platforms could be suppressed well. I have no idea if Dave will do it again but I recommend it.

I'm very happy with it. Did I say I like the 300 Blackout a lot? Because I do.

2" x 6"
1 lb 5.7 oz
SS and Ti
monocore, mount and threadless tube design
direct threaded mount
SS and HV 300 Blackkout
metered in very low 130s
packed full of badassitudeness

Very cool. I like the short/low profile cans.

Is it sealed or take-apart?

What does this mean?

Cool, would look good with a Troy Alfa/Viking rail. :P

Have you try shooting 9mm through it?

I am willing to bet that a 9mm bullet will not fit through a 30 cal hole.

That rail is much smaller than the diameter of the suppressor. Something fatter like the jp or samson evo would look good. Not that the rail on there looks bad.

It is fairly easy to take it apart but not designed to dissasembled by the end user, not that you would need to in centerfire rifle can.

direct threaded mount-
The advantage of a direct threaded mount is no QD/flash hider or adapter to the design that would contribute to a loss of accuracy, pings or tolerance stacking.

threadless tube design-
In a threadless tube design, There is only three pieces. The tube, monocore/endcap and mount. The monocore threads into the mount and the tube (serialize part) is not connected to the monocore or mount. In the odd chance a bullet hits the baffles or end cap, the tube is not connected by threads to the monocore or mount. The serialized tube will not take the energy of the bullet striking the core/end cap. This means there is less chance to pay another tax for a damaged tube.

I haven't yet. :) I don't own an AK.

Here's what David told the guys at NFAtalk.org

"Hey everybody,

Strobo wanted to guinea pig this project for us, so we haven't named it yet, His has a custom name and serial number on it just for him... We think it turned out awesome!

The can would handle 556 with ease. 308 would not be a problem although, the can might start to get loud on a 308, we didnt shoot it on one to see. It is not designed like the Freedom family at all, it actually has more influence from the Mystc than the Freedom. It has a symmetrical blast baffle and heavily reinforced secondary chamber so it can handle many calibers with ease. We are looking to you guys as to whether or not to bring it to market. If everybody wants one of these little guys, we will tool up and make a bunch of them."

I want a short fat can that will handle 7.62x39 and 5.56 with ease. .308 Winchester with slow fire.

This looks perfect for my tastes.

What's the length added?

For instance, the MINI7 websitesays:

Length: 5.25"
Length added: 2.8

Which is almost 2.5" difference.

They should name this can "Silent Assault" or something. Because it seems geared for all of your typical assault weapons. Being comm block or Nato... this will fit the bill.

Closest thing to this from AAC is Hunter which is 7.30" long or 6.55" added for $650

The rest are over $1,000 or has only 17db reduction (MINI7).

I really think this can fills a previously unaddressed niche.

The can adds about 5.5". The measurement from the end of the receiver to the front of the can is 21.25" on a Noveske 8.2' upper.

Good marketing won't play to the hands of the anti-gunners.

"Silent Assault" plays on the assault weapon buzz word and would do nothing but hurt the industry.

Ok, I'm wondering why the beer cans are so rare. Seems like everyone makes them long and skinny which makes no sense to me since a beer can is about as wide as the gun anyway. So I don't see the advantage of the skinny. The long on the other hand makes indoor maneuvers cumbersome.

it's about performance- no amount of volume can make up for a lack of length and baffles in front of the muzzle.

Makes sense. Any clue what the 6" beer can performance difference is vs 1.5"x8" can?

The OP's can metered in the low 130s which is hearing safe. I already have an Octane 9 HD so I could slap that on if I want super quiet. So I'm not uber concerned about performance.

It's pinned/semi sealed. I don't cast bullets so I was not concerned with user serviceability. I did see the CAD file and it resembles a mystic core with closer baffles.

Do want. Nice work!

I would like to see a lighter subsonic only version.
