Setting up a Pelican Case

With the Kaizen layered foam. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be

I quickly learned that unless your setup is NEVER going to change, custom cut pelican cases are about the worst investment in terms of firearms storage. Aside from needing to buy new foam if your configuration changes, or cut it so loose that multiple configs work but let your gun slide around, the stock foam holds moisture and causes rust. Even in hot ass Arizona it was a problem, I can't imagine a humid place like Florida or Louisiana.

That being said, for airline travel I like them, and as long as you can put enough locks on it, it's great.

Thanks for posting. I was gifted a 1750 years ago and have "made do" with trying to re-configure for my purposes. I really need to just buy a new center piece and re do it.

The pluckable foam is a decent option as well. But I'm not a fan of "custom" foam cases for most of the same reasons johnny mentioned.

Those setups won't change and if I wanted to change the config I could just keep another center foam on hand for a different setup and swap as needed. Im going to get another case for my SBR's. 8)
