You can silence a revolver if you make a mechanism to seal the gap. I have shot one that was crazy quiet.

I saw a Ruger GP100 that had some sort of chamber around the cylinder in a magazine. It fired a proprietary cartridge.

What caliber? And what do you consider crazy quiet? Comparisons?

revolvers can be silenced but its not real practical. the only working one I have seen used a heavy leather bag lined with sheep skin to cover the revolver with an elastic cuff to go aroound your wrist and the silencer sticking out of the leather. it worked but it was hot on the hand.
Oh those WW2 brit inventers

Would that be a "Wet" 'tater silencer?

I've seen one that fit around the pistol like a large metal clamshell holster, to bulky.

Actually the Russian Nagant 7.62 revolver can be supressed just but installing can on end. The cartridge seals the chamber to the barrel. Everyone my already know this but just in case thought I would mention it. Thought about getting one, because of the no you cant supress a revolver thing. :D

We all know that there are a few revolvers that are able to be suppressed. I think the OP's intention was to point out that you can't silence a standard revolver by sticking a potato over the muzzle.

When I was about 12 or 13, I tried the potato thing with my Dad's P38. If I remember correctly, I saw it done in the original Shaft movie.
I spent about 20 mins. cleaning potato off of me and about an hour cleaning the P38.

I still own the P38 :D
