Just moved to AZ from UT. Should I bother with an AZ concealed firearm permit?

Only if you care about reciprocity. I'm also hoping for a tiered system where CCW holders can carry in more areas.

I have AZ and UT CCW for carry in other area's and for background waiver - it's worth it for me.

CCW holders already can carry in more areas even after the recent law allowing CCW w/o a permit. Public parks/areas are a big one that comes to mind, there are a few others. Plus I recommend them anyway, the information taught in the class is something everybody should know. Well worth the cost and, at least in my case, the permit came back after three weeks.

I have a UT CCW - planning on keeping it and have updated my address change in UT's database. New UT permit with updated address info arrived this week - nice!

So, if I'm to understand correctly, AZ has carry restrictions w/o an AZ CCW (proprietary?). Would my UT permit not trump a resident AZ permit?

Yes, carrying without a permit does still have a few restrictions in AZ. As for your Utah permit being here, I *think* reciprocity takes the lead on that and it would be recognized but I cannot say for sure.

Q: What restriction are those and does my NC CCW cover me or should I get the AZ CCW?

Thanks,
Mike

First time your NICS check gets held up, you'll wish you had a CCW.

That was another question I had. AZ won't accept a UT CCW to bypass an NICS?

AZ only accepts AZ CCW to bypass NICS as far as I know.

Thanks for the info - looks like I'll be getting an AZ CCW.

Also of note, If you served in the military and have an honorable discharge, a DD 214 saying so takes the place of the paid class. I moved back to AZ, called the CCW number, they sent me the packet that day, Filled in the form, got fingerprinted, turned in the packet with money order and a copy of my DD214, permit showed up 6 weeks later.

That's 'Merican. Plus, my NCIS check always comes back with the "delay transaction" deal where if they dont call back in a few days the dealer then can transfer the item. I don't know why, Im not a convicted anything, it just does. I needed that CCW in my life.

Lost.

Yes! As others said, do the AZ CCW to avoid the NICS call in. And yes, the AZ CCW will get you out of the AZ call-in NICS check, a Utah CCW will not. No reciprocity in the NICS world.

Howdy guys,

Received the CWP card on Tuesday. They had to review some of the background info which added 2 months of waiting...
