I was reading a thread on another forum about GA HB60. http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20132014/144825.pdf
It had a link to this document; http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news ... report.pdf where it said that hunting with subsonic ammo was illegal.
I searched HB60 (link above) and the entire GA code; http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/gacode/Default.asp and was not able to find the word "subsonic".
It seems a person can now hunt with a suppresed firearm on private property in GA if they have permissoin from the land owner.

GA law, silencers, subsonic hunting ammo.
GA law, silencers, subsonic hunting ammo.
SilencerTalk was a place I could disccuss making registered silencers without being told I was a criminal. That is no longer true. http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=99273
Re: GA law, silencers, subsonic hunting ammo.
This is the text I pulled from http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20132014/144825.pdf
It seems to say to me, that while it's prohibited but may be used on the hunter's own private land or on another's private land with permission or on public land in areas designated by the state. (Relevant text highlighted below)

Re: GA law, silencers, subsonic hunting ammo.
With regards to the use of sub-sonic ammo, I could not find either "sonic" nor "sound" in my version of the law. However, it would stand to reason that sub-sonic might be prohibited as it may not have enough energy to penetrate the game and make a clean kill.ranb wrote:I was reading a thread on another forum about GA HB60. http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20132014/144825.pdf

Under Legal Firearms at this link, it only mentions the caliber requirement and requires the use of expanding bullets on larger game. http://www.eregulations.com/georgia/hun ... formation/

That energy issue is an interesting point. Maybe there could be a specific minimum terminal foot-pounds of energy at 100 yards and be done with it?

Re: GA law, silencers, subsonic hunting ammo.
I think I found out why. GA HB875 banned subsonic hunting ammo, but that bill was not passed. http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20132014/143512.pdf
HB60, a similar bill which allows some suppressed hunting and amends carry laws was passed, but it did not ban subsonic hunting ammo. The Senate people goofed when publishing their report.
I'm trapped in California working for a little while; this means I have too much time on my hands until the day comes and I can start work on my next few silencer projects I have paperwork for. I'll be a slave to the lathe when I get home, but not the same kind of slave that turd poikilotrm thinks I am.

Interesting find.
I live in Georgia, and have a couple cans "In Process".
If I get one in time, I plan to hunt with it this year.
I plan on using super ammo, unless I can come up with a load using a Lehigh or similar bullet that seems "ethical".
