Griffin Armament Recce 7?

Post by Fire_Medic »

Does anyone have feedback on this suppressor. It looks like a solid 30 cal can for the money with the mount included and a taper mount system. Don't see a lot of reviews or feedback except for the stuff posted by Griffin Armament directly.

Thanks

I bought one a week (forever) ago. There are a few videos with very limited footage on YouTube. What I've seen I've been impressed with (300 Blk very quiet)

I think they're just too new to be many out there. There's also some GREAT competition on the market right now like the Specwar and the Saker et-al.

For me it was the light weight and the simplicity of the mount that swayed me over the Specwar. Also I really dug the "about us" video on Griffin's YouTube channel. They really are the little guy but they're doing their best to put out a competitive but also innovative product. I may kick myself when I get it, but somehow I don't think so...

Got one waiting on paperwork as well. Will let you know how it goes in 6-9 months. FWIW, the shop we bought it at is the one that did the second video in the previous post. The Military Arms channel guy works there. The behind the camera guy runs the shop most of the time, but both of them spoke pretty highly about the Recce 7. They had some more expensive ones in the case too, but he really tried to sell us on this one.

I am waiting on one as well. I was sold on the taper mount to begin with, but when they improved the performance with the Gen2 version I jumped in. I have 3 taper mount devices waiting. First is on a 300 BLK, 2nd on a .260 bolt gun, number 3 is still available for something. I am considering a Sportman TM since it shares the mounting system and could shave about 6-7 ounces for the .260.

And I will admit, even though I have an Octane 9, I kinda want a Revolution 9 too. I think the guys at Griffin Armament are making good stuff.

Wish I could give you hands on info but unfortunately, I'm still waiting. I did get a call yesterday that the can arrived at the dealer here but it's a little far for me to drive for a conjugal visit. Hopefully wait times will continue to drop

Dealer says no word yet, but he will call. I bought the recce7 for a blackout build, but now I am looking forward to putting it on an hk in 5.56.

OK, now that I have photocopies of the Form4..............

Next to an Octane9

On a 8.5" Bbl with a 9" Handguard, about 1.25" under the rail. Did not take the time to put the 13" rail on.

Plan is to shoot Thursday next to a SDN-6 and hopefully a Saker 7.62.

Without having shot it, I love it already. Really like the Taper Mount. Weight feels good on the 8.5" Bbl.

What details would you be interested in???

Shot it, love it. Next to sdn-6 it had a different sound, but not noticeably louder or more quiet. We chocked it up to different hosts. Ymmv. At first, we thought the difference was astounding, but quickly realized I had my gas shut off.

Awesome, glad to hear.

Does the taper mount keep the can on tight, or will it work loose?

I am confident in the taper mount for my shooting schedule. I grab it and try to snug it up out of habit. It has not budged.

I'm sure you've noticed the conspicuous lack of Recce 7 vids on YouTube...

Got to see 7 and my 5 monday, if you look close in this pic you can see the cones are notched and also have a slit cut on the opposite side. That must be the "technology upgrade" that decreases backpressure and increases suppression.

Nice looking cans for sure

Looks like they've done another upgrade to the Recce Cans. I like the look of the new cans. I ended up going with the Omega...picked it up today. Hopefully I'll have a chance to test it out this weekend.

I've only shot a mag or two through the Recce 7, but first impressions were pretty good. Seems to sit on the mount well, sounds good, no real complaints.

It sounds good for the size. It didn't blow away the Specwar, Sandman-L, or Surge 762 in dB reduction, but it's a smaller can so completely expected. I've got results from the meter, but haven't pulled them out and organized our tests from last week.
