I put a brick through the Mask HD I received from Dead Air, and I was most impressed with its sound on my FVSR. It is crazy quiet on that rifle, and the tone on everything I tried was very nice to my ears. 10/22TD and 22/45 are demo'd, and I show how easy it is to take apart at around the 400rd mark (once I started pushing the baffles out the easier direction...).
The Full30 link is below, and I will add the YouTube link once the video goes live there tomorrow afternoon.

Yes, I explain it at the beginning of my wrapup. The Mask HD is still with my SOT, so I printed a life sized photo of one and taped it onto my AAC Pilot.

Looking forward to it!! Honestly surprised you haven't done one already, if i remember correctly, pretty sure I've seen quite a few post on Facebook with you and Mike. Then again... I could be confused with someone else...

Re: Dead Air Mask HD Review
The only way to compare apples to apples is in person. Different microphones attenuate loud sounds and high frequencies to different degrees, so it's impossible to compare sound from one video to another. Some microphones attenuate so bad that unsuppressed shots actually sound quieter on video than the suppressed shots. That's a big reason why I try to talk about what I hear when I'm shooting- video simply can't reproduce the sound of a gunshot, especially unsuppressed. That's also why I don't even bother including unsuppressed shots in most of my silencer videos.Crash_pro wrote:Nice video! Using a fancy pants Sennheiser helps me get a better representation of a suppressed gunshot, though even those mics attenuate out some of the sound you'll hear in person.

I absolutely know that from MANY MANY hours of research, watching videos and creating my own. I still like to watch the videos posted since you can get a general idea of tone or FRP. The most important factor for me from these videos what the review says about the tone and how it compares to others in the same category. Same reason I check these forums for people who have experience. All too often the reviewers on SS or YouTube don’t have other cans to compare it to, so of course they think they all sound great. Both of you have tested a fair number of cans and can compare to others on the market.
I became interested in the Minilith after fireman mentioned the nice deep tone, plus has the convenience of common tools and low cost. However it really isn’t much more for the Mask and you also mentioned it had one of the lowest and most pleasant tones you’ve heard in a can. From the video you can hardly tell the difference on the bolt gun compared to dry firing. Plus of course I am a big fan of the CTA type cans since they don’t build up on the outer tube and less FRP than a monocore.
I myself am a stamp collector, I have 2 rimfire, 2 rifle and 8 user serviceable (double duty) pistol silencers. Unfortunately I do have a limited budget and can’t buy them all and I’m also not privileged enough to get samples! LOL.
I’m debating buying another pistol can that would be more dedicated to just 9mm i.e. a non-servicable Osprey or just buy another proper .22 can and thefore not use my spare Octane. If I do rimfire it has to be rated for 5.7 as a backup to my Spectre II.
