So, looking for input on a 22lr can for a 4" Buck Mark pistol. Trying to keep it light and short while minimizing frp. I think I've narrowed it down between the mask22 and element2...maybe a liberty regulator as well buts its over an inch longer. Mask is a bit heavier based on specs so I'm looking for a first hand account between them. Does the mask22 have a perceived heavier weight than the element 2? How about the added length of the regulator? Does anyone have any first hand comparisons between the these? What about perceived frp on a short pistol? I haven't found any published data comparing these on the same host.
Thx!
J

If weight is a concern and you're not shooting anything other that 22lr through it, check the Surefire Ryder 22-A or a Pilot 2. You would need to take more care in cleaning, but an aluminum can will be the lightest available.

Re: 22lr can for 4" barreled Buck Mark pistol
I wanted a .22 can that had the following features:
-very quiet
-very minimal FRP
-stainless steel baffles (for easier cleaning)
-rated for .17 HMR and .22 mag (and 5.7 as a bonus, but not a requirement)
-easy to disassemble when dirty
The Mask met these requirements better than any other can I looked at, so now I've got one waiting for me in NFA jail.

So the Spectre is slightly longer (~1") than the mask and element2 which in numbers is 20% longer as well as it doesn't have tabs to align baffles like the element2 and mask from what I can see, plus its heavier than both. Mask is also rated for same calibers as Spectre. Now, both Mask and Spectre are over 50% heavier than the element2. I'm more curious on how much that will be felt on a small rimfire pistol such as the buck mark that I'll be using it on.
My real question is how much heavier will the mask feel with the additional 2oz on the buck mark and is it worth having a more robust can that's rated for magnum rounds that I don't currently own or just go lighter and if I ever need additional ratings for other rifles buy a new can rated for it, e.g. 5.7 and other calibers.
I think I'm going to hear to go as light as possible based on some of the folks I've chatted with, so I'm really leaning towards the element2 but still considering the Mask. The rest are off the table and I definitely don't want Al.

Re: 22lr can for 4" barreled Buck Mark pistol
im waiting on mask , buddy has element 2 , really between the 2 is nit picking . my favorite can is my regulator . its quieter then the element 2 on guns ive shot . so its really a toss up . also i have less known brand called mack brothers , i own their lima and echo . both are super nice and quiet they just dont advertise much but awesome cans , the echo has aluminum baffles and ive not run into any problems and light as a feather,. dunno why people dont like aluminum baffles.
but between what you are looking for go element
but between what you are looking for go element
Re: 22lr can for 4" barreled Buck Mark pistol
As of right now, can't find an Element2 in stock anywhere so think I'm going to push the button on the mask. Can't believe I can't find a review comparing the two directly anywhere....not that it matters anymore.

Well, I ordered a Mask-HD so the wait begins. Now I need a 300wm can!

Not on the list but I love my tac-65 and I have it on my buckmark with a paclite barrel.

I'm using a Checkmate (cones not monocore) on my 4" Ruger MK III, but am waiting on a Mask to get rid of the frp it has. Not horible, but there. Also, not an issue on a rifle barrel.
It's not a silencer, it's a can of whoopass!
Re: 22lr can for 4" barreled Buck Mark pistol
If you want to seriously upgrade its performance, send it to John Titsworth at X-Caliber. Mine came back with 7 Genesis SS baffles. What a difference in cleaning and performance. Best $$ I've spent on NFA.MG_Willy wrote:Not on the list but I love my tac-65 and I have it on my buckmark with a paclite barrel.

Is the new .22 RUGER SILENT-SR available yet?
Some reports meter it even quieter.

Hansohn Brothers, LLC has had them in stock for a while now. (HansohnBrothers.com)
I ordered one around a month ago to go along with my Sparrow, Spectre II, Element II and Mask HD.
