What should be in the box - Odessa 9

Post by shortslide »

Just picked up my new Dead Air Odessa 9 this morning. The stamp took a year but now it's home. But not all of it. When I inspected it my local Brick and Mortar gunstore, I noted that one of the pieces seemed to be missing. The booster assembly and three shims. Inside the nice plastic case I found everthing else, the two wrenches, the silencer body, the additional segments and end cap, directions, etc.

Being new to silencers, I took the whole thing to another gunstore because I wanted to use their range. When I showed the Dead Air Odessa 9 to one of them, they noted the same thing. The booster assembly is shown at 1:50 into the silencershop 'tabletop review' video below. That review was done in July 2019 so maybe Dead Air only recently started shipping with the booster assembly?

A somewhat similar situation occurred some years ago to a friend in the South.
When asked how long was the can 'incarcerated' and with whom it turned
out that someone at the dealers had 'misplaced' the missing pieces.

When confronted happily they were found posts haste. :)

Just speculating.

William of Occam:
"Occam's razor (or Ockham's razor) is a principle from philosophy.
Suppose there exist two explanations for an occurrence.
In this case the one that requires the least speculation is usually correct.

Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make,
the more unlikely an explanation." Wiki

Thanks, Dead Air suggested not 'confronting' anyone at the dealer. Dead Air instead opted to send me the missing parts. Lot's of people going in and out of those dealer FFL safes over the course of a year plus whilst we wait for our items. Lesson learned, account for every part that should be there prior to walking out of the dealer.
