Hello,
I'm new to suppressors and was wondering if anyone has used Aklys suppressors and what your impression of them are? Are they any good?
Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
We have customer that's still waiting on delivery of an approved From 3 can from the end of June. They're still "making" the suppressor that was sold two months prior to that.
Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Thanks for the information Paul.
So patience is something I'll need if I decide to go with them.
Any idea if their suppressors are any good? Or is it better to stick with Silencerco, Gemtech or Surefire?

i would buy from someone that has been around, that way you have data and experience from people in the know to base your judgments on. when i buy a can, i don't just ask for opinions. i research, i watch youtube videos, i read magazine reviews. whatever i can get my hands on. the cost and the wait for an nfa item (for me) demands that i make the right decision the first time. there have been a few companies that have started up with great promises, only to disappoint in one way or another. jmho.

I have no idea as to the performance of their cans, IMO you'd be better served purchasing from a well known manufacturer.jeffT-PGH wrote:Thanks for the information Paul.

Yes, its some of the guys from what used to be RedJacket.T-Rex wrote:Is this the guy that used to work for RedJacket?

Currently their shop is under water in the floods LA is having right now.
I don't have any experience with their cans, but if they have an approved Form3 for a can that is not complete then they are wrong and I would go with Silencerco or Griffin for your can.
Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Thank you Mars " i research, i watch youtube videos, i read magazine reviews. whatever i can get my hands on. the cost and the wait for an nfa item (for me) demands that i make the right decision the first time."
I totally agree. I did a google search on them and didn't find much in the way of reviews or videos that were independent opinions/reviews. So I figured I'd reach out to this community to see if anyone had any experience with them. I know people like silencerco, gemtech, and surefire but I thought maybe find out about the new guy on the block. But you're right, for the amount of time and money for the suppressor I want to make the right choice the first time. I don't have loads of money that I can write off as a "lesson" so I want to make sure I make a good choice the first time around.
I am looking for 2 suppressors. 1 for pistol (.22 and 9mm. Maybe 5.7x28 in the future) and 1 for rifle (.223 and 7.62x39. And .308 and 300 BLK in the future) Do you folks have suggestions???
Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

you could probaby do a mysticX to cover most of those: http://libertycans.net/mystic-x/jeffT-PGH wrote:Thank you Mars " i research, i watch youtube videos, i read magazine reviews. whatever i can get my hands on. the cost and the wait for an nfa item (for me) demands that i make the right decision the first time."

but, i would get a rimfire can like the deadair mask or a Spectre 2.0 , they can also handle 5.7x28
then i would get a pistol can like the rugged obsidian 45 (it can also handle 300blkout subsonic), or an octane
and then get a 30 cal rifle can like an omega, sandman, or a surge. these are just my suggestions and i'm sure others can give you other options too.

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Thanks for your input Mars. You've given me some options to look at.
Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
We have played with the Hawker, pilum, their .223 can(forgot the name) and their .22lr can( again forgot the name).
Hawker, large all around subgun can. Many mounting options. Rated for 300blk suppers and .223 on 16"+ barrel. Made well, sounds good
Pilum, 9mm pistol can. Some FRP, after that sounds nice. Very comparable to gemtech multi mount in sound. Takes same mounts as the Hawker. Yes it is FA rated
.223, typical welded .223 can. Sounds like all the rest to me
.22lr can, light 5" can sounds better than the sparrow2, but not quite and good as the spectre2
All their cans are monocore designed

chili17,
Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
just got their latest core for the .22can, the Kopis. It sounds better than the sparrow2 which is the only other monocore .22 can the same size I have to compare it to.
Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Warranty issues with a company with no track history would be a concern. Most of the established companies will do all they can to make it right.

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Hi guys,
I own Aklys Defense, as asked, yes I was the CEO of Redjakit. I got into this to develop the Suppressor side that was infantly started by the old red company. I and my team ( with over 30 years of experience in NFA/Suppressors and over 100 years in the firearms industry) built some cool products but there was too much BS. Enough said on that except, I have provided, will provide and still provide warranty support on products I developed. Including the Vigilant, KSG-Ss, ZK-22 and others because those items were bought with trust in me and the product itself, not the now dead company.
Here at Aklys Defense, we have completed development of one hell of a product line which I was just starting build at a the previous mentioned place with much better quality and intelligent designs without the distractions.
The Newly designed Kopis .22 Suppressor is the lightest and simplest f/a can on the market.
The last few months we have completed our first pistol Can, the Pilum and it includes the LID in the Price.
We are now loading into Silencer Shop now for a faster and better national reach.
I am not wanting to turn this into an ad but I do want to let you know we are passionate about suppressors and NFA, that's why we are in this! I am here for answering questions, we have really cool stuff, and all our products are lifetime warranted.

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Shot the New Kopis .22lr silencer this weekend. Brought along a Bower paradigm and a Sico sparrow2. All 3 cans are right at 5" OAL and 1" OD. Kopis and paradigm are very lite, around 2.5oz. Ammo used was CCI standard velocity, stingers, minimags and Winchester dynapoints. We really just shot them on a pair of ruger 22/45s with 3.5" barrels since all sounded great on rifles. Here is a quick break down.
Sparrow:Loud FRP compared to the Kopis and Paradigm. A little oil added to the can mitigated this. Follow up shots were much more pleasant sounding
Kopis: Some FRP, not near as pronounced as the Sparrow. Again a little oil alleviated this. Follow up shots were nice sounding and had a lower tone than the Sparrow.
Paradigm: Least amount of FRP (this is to be expected as it a traditional baffled can vs the sparrow and kopis which are monocore). Subsequent had a slightly lower tone than the Kopis.
Bottom line. Kopis is a badass monocore can!
Only have about 200rds through the Kopis right now. Once we really get it and the Pilum (still need to shoot it on 300blkout) rung out I will write up a more in-depth review

Re: Has anyone used Aklys Suppressors and what do you think of them
Thanks for your research and feedback chili17. It helps my research and purchasing decision to hear from someone who has used the Kopis AND done a side by side comparison to other comparable suppressors.
JMeaux@Aklys: Good luck to you and your company. Hopefully you'll get out from the shadow and negative press of RJ. Your products seem well designed and thought out.
