Update!

Osprey 9mm video review part2 (Shooting range)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xc_Wggz2qw

Notes:
1. Sorry about the other shooters, it was extremely busy today. I'll do another video in the future on my uncles land. This however shows a comparision with unsuppressed and suppressed shooting.

2. The Osprey stayed tighter on the USP9SD and I found it would loosen on the glock with LWD threaded barrel. Maybe I was being too delicate with the tightening of the can.

3. Using 10cc's water will give some blowback, I used 5cc's and obtained the same suppression with no blowback.

4. The 158grn had a deeper tone, but I think the 147grn sounded better.

5. Its hard as hell to review a can when people come up to you every 5 seconds wondering what the hell it is. lol

6. This thing is the FIRE, I love it.

Nice work! My Osprey 40 just shipped from the Major to my local dealer today. Can't wait to put it on my USP40 Tactical! I'm not sure when my dealer sent my form 4 in.

So, I know you've shot it in your backyard / house / garage..... how is it?

Also, nice job on the flooring project (engineered hardwood or laminate?), it's over floor already so I'd assume laminate.

Waiting on part2!

It sounds great!

And the floor is a 12mm thick laminate by Kenginston Manor the color is Imperial Teak handscraped. We love it.

FIreman, a buddy in Idaho once responded to my complimenting
his 'addition' to his weapon the same way " It sounds great!".

In typical Marine underplay he responded flatly " I would have liked it
better if you could have said "It sounds lousy ... I could not hear a damned thing." :)

Pffft!

Great day.

Didn't watch the whole video. I'm at work in the GoM right now and internet connection is on par with dial up, but from what I did see, its well made.

Vid stopped loading for me right around the fixed spacer part. I'll check out the rest once I make it home.

So far, one of the coolest features mentioned, ( I know I didn't make it far into it), is the serialized piston housing. Which, as in vid, means that if you totally screw up the front part, ie baffle strike, they can just remove the "tube" section and build you another one without going through the whole NFA process and new serial number.

That is badass.

I can't wait to watch the rest of part 1 then follow up on part 2.

Love the videos! How's POI shift, and how's it vary from one host to another?

There didnt seem to be any noticeable POI shift with the HK @7yards, the glock19 shot an inch low but I always shoot low with glocks cause I compensate for the grip angle.

The can interfaced better with the HKUSP9SD. I didnt see any Oring engagment on the inside of the Osprey piston. Maybe Im just not being liberal enough with my tightening of the can...its new give me a break. Dont wanna F--k it up.

Had some fun later than day on the 200meter line. Brought a buddy who had never shot a rifle. Had him hitting steel at 200 in 5 shots. Good times.

Wow!

Ok, just got an email from [email protected] saw my review and the post about the Osprey coming loose on the LWD glock barrel. So he checked the threads on their Osprey pistons and they all measured at Class3a thread. The LWD barrels they had, did not. So they are working with LWD to get the threading tightened up on future barrels....Its proactive stuff like this that bring companies like Silencerco to the top.

Just felt you all should know this, Josh didnt ask me to post this but I couldnt keep this info to myself. -Adam

So.... is it as quite as you hoped?

Do you think if it was any louder (like say, an Osprey45 with the 9mm adapter) if it would be pleasant?

Does it feel like a few more ounces would hurt (like say, the wieght of the 45 with a 9mm adapter).

Etc, etc?

Has anyone metered 9mm thru a .45 Osprey?

I can not understand WHY, but no. Not that I have been able to find. I find it odd that Silencerco seems beat around giving out a number, even though they clearly do give out numbers for promotional use.

It sounds nice. The high pitch you get really masks the sound as anything BUT a gunshot. Sounds like a pellet rifle to anyone else.

As for the 9 thru 45 can. I bet with 5cc's of water it would counteract the fact you have a large open space around the 9mm as it exits the 45 sized end cap. I bought the 9mm version because i wanted the absolute best suppression in 9, I think i'll be buying the 45 osprey sometime down the road for my HKtac45 and I'll move my HEMS2 over to my LesBaer.
