Ops Inc Customer Support

Post by Xan86 » Tue May 03, 2011 1:37 pm

I'm shopping around for a cross-compatible suppressor that I plan on using on 3 ARs (one of them an SBR).
One of the ARs is a MK12MOD0, so I'd like to use an Ops Inc to keep it authentic.

I've found that the newer generation Ops (14th-16th model) can be used on the 12th model MK12 brake with an adapter.
I've also heard that they are good performing cans, and pretty quiet for a 556 suppressor.

What I'm really curious about is Ops Inc customer service. I've heard excellent things about Gemtech and AAC warranty work that essentially covered user stupidity, but I haven't read much on how Ops is in the support department.

All feed back is appreciated.

Also, I am open to other recommendations for a suppressor. Thanks for the input.

From what I understand, Ops, Inc. ownership has recently changed hands following the death last year of founder Phil Seberger.

Ron (k31user) is the manager and is active here in the Ops section. He has been quick and responsive to issues as posted.

I've never heard anything negative about the quality of their service.

Ops customer support has always been good to me so I have continued to buy their products. I have a number of their cans and yes they are good performers.

Ops Inc is a small shop and they focus mostly on their military orders. They've never really pushed their products in the "Form 4" market. Actually, Steve from ADCO kind of dragged Ops Inc into the Form 4 world.

I've had a business relationship with Ron Allen for several years and have no complaints. None. He has proven himself to be honest and a man of integrity. I once had a customer who had a round of factory ammo from a well respected company come apart as it exited the muzzle. The round tumbled down a 12th Model destroying the core. When I made Ron aware of the situation he insisted on re-building the suppressor for the customer and Ron paid everything including return shipping. And it was NOT his product's fault! It was a faulty projectile. The ammo manufacturer offered to pay for the repairs but Ron insisted on handling it. That is the kind of person Ron is. That is his attitude.

I've also been a customer of Ops Inc and own several of their products. They remain among my favorite suppressors and all are excellent performers.

The only complaint I have is that Ron/Ops Inc don't produce more product.

Very happy with my Ops 12th. I bought it as a used demo, but he cleaned and re-parked it and it looks like new.

I would say if anything, customer service got a little better when I went from a tire kicker to a purchaser. And I have no complaints from the tire kicker side of things.

Like said, he's running a small shop, filling large (military) contracts. But once I bought the can, he really helped me get the can set up correctly (i.e. shouldering on the barrel cut) No problems since.

Buy with confidence.

The most recent competitive contract they won was probably the SPR back 10 years ago, and it was about 1600 units. Looking back, it was clearly the best can at the time and was the correct decision for that contract.

Robert just likes to remind me that what constitutes a large order to us isn't worth AAC wasting a phone call. Fortunately we aren't picky and will even do those little contracts that no one else wants.

Bookhound, how do you like that Mcree stock? I handled one and really liked it. A local smith swears by them, but he's the only guy I know with one. I was looking at doing one up, but I've been tossing around ideas on which rifle to use as a base.

In blue, because I don't get shot at and I'll have to refinish a 700 if I get one.

I think ACC is a fine company and builds good product. I think we all appreciate them hosting this forum. Having said that, no one company can meet all of the requirements of all the customers.

I suspect that most of the people on this forum are small order customers. I appreciate the care and craftsmanship that went into building my silencer. The support I have received from Ron has been sound and very helpful. As far as the product goes, the key point for me ( beyond it is durable and works) is the rock solid mounting system. My stuff seems to get banged around a lot. Also, if I need to remove the silencer when it is still hot, I can break it free with my boots and then slap spin it off. No buttons to push or latch mechanisms to deal with.

I did my AR's similar to these, except I did 12th model on both the MK12 Mod 1-ish and the M4gery. On the M4gery, I used a 14.5" barrel and pinned & welded the brake to the barrel. This required the pin/weld to be in the area of the external threads on the brake. Dave Wells did an outstanding job with that weld.

Ummmm.........My 30cal 3rd Model was one of a few extras made during a military contract production run late in 2009. And FWIW, if I ever buy another centerfire rifle suppressor it will be an Ops Inc from Ron.

Do you have the right angle attachment for that scope so you can leave the stock folded and shoot around corners?
