Barrett .50 Can

Post by TonyT »

We received our Barrett can yesterday, and it appears to be built very well, and is fairly light for a .50 can. Compared to a Cyclops (I dont have one handy, but have had one in the shop for transfer), it is very similar in weight and design, as well as similar baffles. The Cyclops and Barrett can are both featherweight compared to the old AWC Turbodyne I had.

The only problem is they released the can, but not the 82a1 upgrade kits, so you can use it! They apparently aren't sure if they are ever going to release a upgrade kit now. I have a 82a1 CQ like new if anybody is interested, it looks like I may have to save my pennies for a 107! If I ever get a 107, I'll post a range report.

Here we were shooting the cyclops on a bolt action 18" .50. It was surprisingly quiet. Sorry its upside-down, I'm at work and don't have a way to flip it..... :(

That was surprising. I like watching the barrel wiggle from the cantilever loading situation with that heavy can

What 50 is that?

From a clinical viewpoint, has anyone fired a .22 weapon through an
unaltered Barrett can? Ad Extremum.

The reason I ask is I have not seen
any measurable and/or perceptible study of the efficacy, leaving weight aside,
of using a super large can on a smaller caliber ... except for
hearsay of pulling it out of an orifice extrapolations at gun shops.

That bolt action is a safety harbor AR upper. Ive fired a .22 through a Bowers .45 CAC on an uzi with a .22 kit. A little FRP, but really very quiet.

Thank you for the G-2. Perhaps someone will add to the info base by
performing your .22 experiment with the Barrett.

Best.

The only problem is, I don't have any way to mount the Barrett can on anything! Barrett wont sell the muzzle brake unless it is attached to a 107A1! I thought I could shoot it on the bolt action if I had a brake, but its a no-go. I'll sell my 82CQ and get a 107, but it may be a while.
