sig p226 .22lr conversion kit

Post by yamatitan »

Ok I just got this today and im hitting way high like 5" at 12 yards. The back sight is maxed out on adjustment, im not sure if its the POI shift from my suppressor because I never shoot unsuppressed. I dont think it is though because my element doesnt effect any of my other pistols at all. Anyway Ive found one source that says the xd front sight uses the same cut. Can anyone confirm this? If so I will pick up a dawson precision fiber optic which is available in a taller sight. On another note the thing groups just as tight as my ruger 22/45.

I have a threaded P226 conversion and it is dead on with the factory sights, suppressed or unsuppressed. I don't own the Element.

If you're not sure whether the POI shift is from the suppressor then shoot it unsuppressed to find out.

The thing is the suppressor is gonna live on this gun so I really could care less on if its the suppressor or not which I seriously dont think it is. I just want it to be dead on with the suppressor attached. So I have two options shoot it unsuppressed and see and confirm it shoots high without a suppressor then send it to sig to fix or go ahead and upgrade to a taller fiber optic which I prefer anyway. So I think im just going to gamble on buying the xd sight. Since Im lucky enough to own a xd I took some crude measurements and it looks like the slide cuts are the same size. So I think im just going to give the xd sight a try. I measure the sig sight and it is .220 and dawson precision has a xd in .285 which I think will get me where I need by adjusting the rear sight up a little since its bottomed out now. When I shot it today I could hold the front sight with the top of the white dot under the bottom of the white dots on the rear sight and that was hitting pretty close so its a good bit off.

Update I shot it with the suppressor off and it still hits high by the same amount. So its not the can affecting it just like I figured.

Final UPDATE I ordered the fiber optic form dawson last week. Its the springfield xd .285x.125, the sight was .04 too fat so I filed it down with a hand file and it fit right in. The height was perfect, I adjusted the rear sight to about the middle and it was right on very happy with this gun now.
