Just this, mostly:

Maybe with time, I could tighten it up some. I kinda thought I would do better than that.

I've also used Cor-Bon's 185 gr. subsonic. Silly quiet and lot's of fun.

Just came across this one, along the lines of a topic we debated a while back and something I have been planning to do as the 30BR is such a failure when compared with the 300 Whisper variants.

My desire is to test 155s out to 1000 yards with a 16.5 inch barrel and see where the cutoff effective distance really is.

A work in progress but something that can be achieved in the next 6 months.

I am STILL waiting on my HS Prec Varm Pro stock from Stockies. I guess that flavor of stock for a M7 is not real popular.

What do you think of the HS stock that comes on the PSS for a build? Any reason to go with the Pro Series stock that is used on the LTR?

I want to call HSP and find out the width of the barrel channel. My PSS stock has to be opened up a bit and I'm not sure if I should just go with a different stock altogether.

My original PSS stock needed only slight inletting for the new barrel. Only at its widest point.

I cant win.
Finally got my stock yesterday. It had a big run in the finish at the bolt handle notch.
Im pretty bummed at the amount of time i waited (3/8 - 7/18) and it passed through QC with that kind of finish.
So i called HS up and its going back out today. We'll see what they do for me.

Dang Derf - sorry to hear about your stock. The waiting sucks as it is without being disappointed after the results come through. Hopefully HS will make it right quick.

I was going to put an LTR stock on my build when one came up on the EE on another board. I missed it by 10min! Just my luck. We'll I'm just going forward with my PSS stock and will have to get it inleted slightly.

My gun is at a local smith. Mike Lau with Texas Brigade Armory has it now and is doing his magic. Mike's work is top notch and he's done work for several agencies over the years. He's a very humble and nice person to deal with too - My rifle is in good hands.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the AAC barrel as I received it from Midway as well as some pics of my stock where the inletting will take place. I'll post pics of the gun once I get it back. For now the wait goes on on my Form 4's (SDN6).

Got my stock back from HS-P, looks like it should.
Now to go home and get the files and sand paper out. Im sure i have some clean up and inletting to do.
I'll post pics tomorrow.

edit
I had to do some extensive inletting/floating last night. In the past a 1/2round rasp, 1/2round smooth file, and some sand paper were all the tools needed.
This required a die grinder with a ball mill. Nice thing is its plastic, so it didnt take long to hog out. Not my best job, but it looks ok and is floated.
After doing that, putting together 3 HK trigger packs, and overhauling 2 m11/9s i didnt feel like getting the camera out.

I did find out that i now need higher rings. The stock Model 7 barrel contour was A LOT thinner and left plenty of clearance for the 50mm bell.
Not this barrel LOL
May be a good reason to put this VX3 on something else and get a new Mark4 since im buying rings LOL

Sorry to post in a long dead thread... but I was wondering if you got a chance to shoot it more and get an idea for it's accuracy, 700PSS? I'm looking at using this barrel in a possible future build and there's not alot of info (good or bad) on them. What kind of loads do they like and what kind of accuracy have you achieved?

Sorry, but I don't handload and I've only shot factory loads in this barrel, mostly 168gr.

I think I'm going to get the Barrel @ AAC's website. At that price I don't think I'll lose much if I don't end up using it. I think it'd be nice to find someone a nitride receiver/bolt to go with it though. THen throw it all in a B&C Stock and have a nice little budget medium range rifle. :)

That's the "medium profile" barrel, not the "heavy profile". But that's a great deal at $149.99!!! They were originally $400.

Cripes, $150?? Wouldn't it be nice to have a real life wayback machine.

http://www.advanced-armament.com/Rem-70 ... p_465.html - Still $400, still out of stock.

No kidding. I ended up buying a 700 AAC-SD instead.

I had the 20" barrel on my Howa 308 cut and crowned at 16.5". It is a tack-driver, shooting .75" at 100yards with 175gr SMK, through my SC Omega can.
