East Texas man shoots armadillo, wounded by ricochet

Post by johndoe3 »

Hmmm, I guess East Texas armadillos are tough.

The Cass County Texas sheriff reports that a man in Marietta shot 3 times at an armadillo with his .38 revolver. At least one bullet ricocheted off the dillo and struck our unlucky hunter in the jaw. He's at the hospital with his jaw wired shut.

The Sheriff stated that this armor-plated armadillo is still on the loose.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.

I bet it was either a light 125gr old police load or a light old fashioned PPC Wadcutter round from the old Police league days. Those damn things were dangerous, they used hard cast bullets with a light charge to kill recoil, most people practiced in basements with them in the old days. Seen them ricochet alot, my grandfather used to use them in the police cup days, I shot one at a burn barrel once, damn thing almost took my toe off with a ricochet , I was about 12 years old when I did it, it was a model 10 with about a half ounce single action trigger, it was horrendous, my dad took it from me and yelled at my grandfather for letting me touch it, thing was a deathtrap.
