Hello fellow ST hunters,
I'm looking for some advice as to where to start looking. I'm on the North end of Las Vegas and new to the area.
I do not want anyone's "hot spot", but some general advice as where to start my travels.
I will not be using dogs, only hand calls and e-callers.
Please feel to respond to this post or PM me.
Thanks,
Rick
Looking for Mt. Lion hunting advice in NV
Re: Looking for Mt. Lion hunting advice in NV
Talk to Game & Fish there......game warden and also the animal damage control specialist. Find out from them if there are any complaints or complaints of damage to livestock or pets from mtn lions. Great intel....
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand upon. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

Thanks, I have contacted game & fish and they were a little help.
Re: Looking for Mt. Lion hunting advice in NV
At first glance I saw "hunting advice in NY" instead of NV.
If F&G didn't get you as close of an idea as you hoped, find where ever tags are sold for the cats and ask. Find a hunting guide (if NV puts those out, I know MT does) with the regulations - a lot of the time they have suggested areas.
If that doesn't help, find taxidermists in the area to see if any fixed up mountain lions and ask them whereabouts the customers bagged them. It's worked for me in the past.

RIP Dave. You will be missed.

Re: Looking for Mt. Lion hunting advice in NV
You're welcome.
Before I forget again, I was a little ambiguous about "hunting guide". What I meant was a small booklet, usually free, put out by the state itself, anywhere from 30-100 pages, and some may be small (digest size) while others are larger (standard magazine size). Those are available here in Montana and I've found them everywhere else I've lived/hunted too. There are generally books for each species and each type of hunting overall. Bow, rifle, shotgun, handgun, trapping and then deer, elk, cats, etc. They really are just amazing guides, too. I hope NDOW does indeed put them out.
Speaking of NDOW, have you asked them directly? Have you checked out the mountain lion information they have? http://www.ndow.org/hunt/seasons/fur/mtlion.shtm
Good luck with finding a spot. Enjoy!
