Not legal in NC
GS 113-291.1
what states allow hunting with a suppressor?
Since you're a LEO, do you have any inside info on why it's illegal or what would the police do if they caught you with one?GaLEO wrote:not legal for game animals in Georgia...
This seems like such a stupid rule because my dad and I get people running out their houses shooting rifles in the air when we shoot at deer (who eat soybeans in our fields) from the road.
Be kind to others and stay ready

ain't me, it's the legislature.....THEY make the stupid rules.....
As far as I interpret it....the ban on cans involves SPORT hunting of GAME animals....
shooting with a crop permit, or non game varmint type critters don't count....
With that being said, UNLESS you are showing your ass, with a group of drunk hunters shining at night, etc....who is gonna know to complain....

Mr. Burns: This anonymous clan of slack-jawed troglodytes has cost me the election, and yet if I were to have them killed, I would be the one to go to jail. That's democracy for you.

Does the prohibition of hunting with a suppressor extend to hunting on your own land? Or does owning your own land give the owner leave to do what he or she wants (Yes, thinking of you, Suppressor Professor

In Georgia it doesn't matter where you are hunting, hunting is hunting no matter where you are doing it.....it is illegal here.....

Florida regulations. Notice that it gives the definition of taking wildlife but not the definition of taking game. It would be nice to see a clear ruling on the acceptable use of hunting with silencers. I'm pretty sure it's OK for nuisance animals such as beavers and JPratt knows it's OK for hogs if on you own land.

As you may know, in Texas, you own the land but game animals are property of the state. You can only shoot them with what the state says is OK. Any non-game animals you can do with what you like, or protected animals that are being destructive can be removed with permission from your local P&W office. The only time I know of being on your own land gives you an advantage is that you don't need a fishing license for private ponds and lakes. Rivers are still state property.GoodOlBuzz wrote:Let me put a different spin on this questiopn with a Texas frame of reference. As long as you use a magazine with the required quantity, and do not use a machine-gun, KY will let you use anything. I tested this in 2007 with a SBR AR15 in .338 Spectre with a SWR Trident. I only carried 5 rnd mags, and never had any trouble. I can't wait until fall squak season, when I use my suppressed 10/22.kilroymcb wrote:Kentucky allows hunting of all game animals with a silencer.

I can't find anything about it one way or the other (which I guess is a good sign).
