.729 x 3.5" Kerberos

Post by whiterussian1974 »

I wonder if anyone else has tried this. A 12ga 3 1/2" shell loaded with a 1095 gr slug. I've also seen it posted as the 12ga from Hell.
You can load 2.5" brass shotshells or some people have even trimmed .50 BMG and added a rim to the base.
ATF has exempted this from Destructive Device as long as it can shoot buckshot from the barreled action. This has given rise to CZ550 action-based custom rifles w fluted bull barrels.
http://www.dixieslugs.com/ loads 730gr slugs @ 1200-1275'/sec.
I prefer custom mould hardcast 1095 gr.(2.5oz) slugs loaded to 985fps.
When it raises eyebrows I say, "It's easier to see the holes on paper targets."
It also doesn't take much powder and the slugs can be recast.
