Does a shotgun shell that's subsonic through a barrel make a difference, suppressed (through a Salvo)?
Some of the reduced recoil loads are ~950 fps
Suppressed 12: subsonic
Re: Suppressed 12: subsonic
All subsonic rounds will be quieter than supersonic rounds from a can, regardless of caliber/gauge.
A significant portion of a gun "blast" is the projectile breaking the sound barrier as it exits the muzzle. High-velocity shot/buck/slugs will do the same.

Re: Suppressed 12: subsonic
Even the simple size of the "frontal area" of the bullet will have an impact, especially when shooting subs ..
A subsonic .22 makes a lot less noise than a .45 ... or a 12 gauge ..

Does anyone have experience with the Salvo and <1120 fps? Thanks

Anyone every hear of subsonic 12ga that will cycle a semi auto gun?
Re: Suppressed 12: subsonic
Doesn't that depend a lot on the gun?aries14482 wrote:Anyone every hear of subsonic 12ga that will cycle a semi auto gun?
Beretta 1301 has the lightest bolt, and according to the internet, will cycle weaker loads than any other semi-auto. Will it cycle the load that you're asking about? I don't know.

Re: Suppressed 12: subsonic
With rifles it's both. Most of the time a rifle can be made to run with changes to gas ports, gas port location, weight of reciprocating parts, the right powder and bullet weight, etc. Some company I can't remember had a subsonic 5.56 load that would cycle a semi, though I recall being told the quality was poor. I only remember the company's logo reminded me of the logo stickers on condom dispensers in truck stop bathrooms.
I asked to see if anyone had seen a semi-auto shotgun run with a subsonic load. I haven't found much mention of it on the internet.

Use a 3.5 oz slug. The added mass and increased time in barrel will help it cycle. ".729/12ga from Hell."aries14482 wrote:I asked to see if anyone had seen a semi-auto shotgun run with a subsonic load. I haven't found much mention of it on the internet.
