VV N310 and 9 mm

Be careful -- low-volume ratio loads can detonate. Mangement not responsible for load data. Use at your own risk.

VV N310 and 9 mm

Post by paper9 »

Has anyone tried 9 mm subsonic with VV N310? 124 gr or 147 gr?
Results?
Thanks,

VV N310
CCI 500 PRIMERS
G17 PLATFORM
CRIMPED
MAGNETOSPEED CHRONOGRAPH

124 GR FMJ RN
OAL 1.11
2.9 GR N310
V AVE 952
V MIN 927
V MAX 987
CYCLES BUT DID NOT LOCK OPEN ON LAST RND

2.8 GR N310
OAL 1.11
V AVE 928
V MIN 933
V MAX 921
FTE

2.7 GR N310
OAL 1.11
V AVE 916
V MIN 907
V MAX 924
FTE

147 GR FMJ RN
OAL 1.16
3.0 GR N310
V AVE 932
V MIN 960
V MAX 903
CYCLES, RUNS GOOD

These all were soft to shoot, no heavy recoil.
The 124 GR may require a greater powder charge.

Recoil is not a measure of pressure. I ran this through QuickLoad, and this load would most likely be +P. N310 is extremely fast and not really suitable for anything but weak loads with light bullets. Your 124grs loads look fine though, but I wouldn't increase the charge.
I know a lot of guns handle +P just fine, but it's just so unnecessary to load to those pressures for loads like this. N320 would get the job done with a much more reasonable pressure.

THANKS FOR THE INFO, ABOUT THE TIME YOU WERE TYPING
I HAD RUN THESE;

VV N310
CCI 500 PRIMERS
G17 PLATFORM
CRIMPED, 5 ROUND SAMPLE
MAGNETOSPEED CHRONOGRAPH

147 GR FMJ RN
OAL 1.16
3.1 GR N310
V AVE 959
V MIN 954
V MAX 965

124 GR FMJ RN
OAL 1.11
3.1 GR N310
V AVE 1026
V Max 1042
V Min 1019

THAT IS GOOD ADVICE, I PROBABLY WILL LEVEL BOTH OF THESE OUT AT 3.0 GR, N310.
THESE LAST TWO CYCLED THE SIG 2022 WITH THE OSPREY 9 FINE, LOCKED OPEN.

The 124-loads look fine to me, it's the 147 I have reservations about. 147's are long, so there isn't much volume left. Any deviations in bullet length or seating depth can have a major effect on pressure, and N310 isn't very forgiving. Even if your load is fine, anyone trying to duplicate it without using the same bullet and brass is taking an unnecessary risk IMHO. Just saying, people will have to make up their own mind in the end.

Thanks again, I was looking for 124 gr subsonic load, I tried the 147 gr but I have a proven N320 for those.

I have fired more than a quarter million rounds using berrys plated 147's with 3.1 of n310 @ 1.160.

It is the softest feeling load I have found that makes "minor" but is is high pressure.
