Trail Boss powder

I really like TB, it is so quiet for 300 BLK in a bolt gun. It really makes it fun.
I wonder how it might work for larger calibers such as 50 BMG. I know it is complete
180 degree turn for that, but the potential 50 BMG at air gun like sound might be possible

I have a really nice 30-30 load with trail boss and missouri bullet co. 245gr 300Blk bullet. i'm using 9.3gr trailboss but I would start low and work up to your desired velocity

I'm curious as well. I'm using 9.3 grains behind a 175 SMK for my .308, and it leaves a **** ton of room for more.

Trailboss will not cycle an AR15.

I have a good load for my Encore. 308 for subsonic 165 grain gameking , just bought a 300 blackout upper and wondering what would be a good starting load for the same grain bullet.

It's going to be next to impossible to get a subsonic load using 165 grain bullets to cycle in an AR. You will have a lot better luck with 200+ grain bullets. Generally with a 300 BLK you will run bullets under 200 grains supersonic and those over 200 grains subsonic. Some guys have managed to get 175 grain bullets to cycle at subsonic velocities, but it takes the right setup. I have never heard of anyone getting 165 grain bullets to cycle at subsonic velocities.

Hello all - new here, joined to learn about suppressors and subsonic ammo as I jump on the silencer bandwagon. I don't want to hijack this thread but the topic is Trail Boss.

A friend and myself both recently bought suppressor ready 308s, his is a Remington with a 16" barrel, mine is a 20" Howa. I'm loading 220 gr. Sierras on top of Trailboss and got satisfactory results easily for my Howa. For his Remington though, results are sketchy. With the max load, velocity ranges from 890 fps to a bit over 1000. As the barrel warms velocity drops seems to be the case. Just too much extreme spread, I like something more consistent and closer to 1100 fps. It seems like the TB isn't going work for his stubby barrel.

Anybody have a suggestion for another powder?

just wondering. why did you go with .308s instead of 300 blackouts if your goal was to shoot subsonic 30 cal?

a dedicated .308 for supers and a .300blk for subs would make your life easier (except maybe on your wallet)

Fair question... first, we may not always want to shoot subsonic through our rifles, in fact we'll probably both shoot more super sonic ammo through our suppressors depending on the report.

Second, I'm already setup very well for reloading 308 with brass and dies, 300 aac would be a new caliber requiring dies and brass to be purchased.

BTW, since posting this I've been advised that perhaps just switching to magnum primers may fix the problem. That would be a simple solution, so I'll try that before giving up on Trail Boss.
